It's probably better for him because he was having a lot of meltdowns on there

Probably less than that, given he deleted his Twitter a week or so ago, then came back, then apparently deleted it again.

I've listened to Roderick on Friendly Fire (his war movie podcast), which includes the two guys who do the Greatest Generation Star Trek podcast, and he comes off as kind of a weird libertarian type a lot of the time

I've also listened to that, but not that often because they tend to go on long tangents that take up half the episode at times.

AceOfFlames posted:That describes half of podcasts these days, or at least the ones I listen to. Whenever I find one of those, my criteria for whether or not I keep going is 50% “is the topic interesting” and 50% “do I like the hosts’ banter/chemistry enough to be entertained?” I do tend to skip a lot of Omnibus eps, though, especially since the topic is always such a grab bag. and yes I think a lot of good podcasts come down to how entertaining the hosts are. If they aren't very entertaining it's probably not worth it unless you really, really like the content

Parakeet vs. Phone posted:He's all over the MaxFun network so he's pretty connected to a lot of podcasts and apparently Dave. He does music for a lot of them too. Alongside the Ken Jennings podcast he also does a war movies podcast with the Greatest Generation guys that I was just getting ready to check out. My Brother, My Brother and Me already announced that they're distancing themselves from him and getting new theme music. All cause he had to post about those beans. Honestly he's the worst part of that show so if they decided to ditch him I would be fine with that

Dapper_Swindler posted:yeah. i heard it has issues because it doesn't cover everything but over all its great. Like you can see how we basically took over France's colonial project and it went to hell very fast. To me the most important part is the idea that the whole thing was doomed to failure from the beginning and was never going to succeed, which I think is important because as we know, a lot of right-wing attitudes regarding Vietnam were that it was winnable but we were too weak and gave up or whatever.

# ¿ May 9, 2021 00:13 |

It's very clear to me that a lot of higher-ups in the Executive Branch legitimately bought into the Domino Theory, because that was the primary justification for staying in Vietnam well after it was obvious that the outcome was going to be bad. It's not at all different from why we have been dragging our feet forever with staying in Afghanistan when it's very clear that we are never going to be able to create a stable country there.
