Release my children! My hat is truly great and mighty.

i really liked midtown and motocross madness way back when

actually regarding motocross i only had the demo and i'd just do the stunty bit all the time and after i'd get bored collecting points i'd ride my bike to the edge of the map, slowly work my way up the cliff, get to the top, then laugh as the game catapulted me back to the centre of the map

These 2 are good suggestions. Also check out Outrunners on MAME, don't play the Genesis port it's garbage.

I wish Outrunners was getting ported to 3DS along with Outrun because it hasn't gotten a good one yet, unlike Outrun which at least has a couple.

One series that's surprisingly solid is Shutokou Battle otherwise known as Tokyo Highway Battle/Tokyo Xtreme Racer/Tokyo Highway Challenge/Import Tuner Challenge.

Same goes for the ATLUS Touge series. Much like Japanese gundam games not understanding japanese isn't much of an issue.

You can easily figure out the menus if you play them via Demul, etc. Extreme Stage for the PS3 also has no region protection.

Shoutoku Battle is good; haven't. Heard of Touge, will check it out.

there was this cool as hell mod for midtown madness 2 that added a huge dumptruck that took up the whole road. if you were really cool you could go down a ramp with cops chasing you and they'd land in the back of the truck and get stuck there for a while

A 3D Outrunners would be insane, that game used a ton scaling.

How does it feel to play it with a 360 controller? I keep hearing Daytona has really sensitive steering and that it can't really be played except on a wheel.

That's the one where every combustion within the car engine is modeled independently, just for added simulated precision, right? That video does a good job scaring me in just the right way, is there a way to get RBR legally?

Prepare yourself though it's an extremely unforgiving game but that's why it's so rewarding to play because none of the difficulty is artificial it's just a test of managing driving physics on gravel in a way no other game has replicated as well to date. There may be a smorgasbord of road racing sims out there but they're small beans compared to the poo poo that went into this rally sim.

Don't skip the driving school lessons at the beginning unless you're already familiar with how to drive a rally car and I mean not in video games.

They're taking their time. They did say they'll be going on Kickstarter, but they want the game to look more presentable when they do. I get the feeling they don't really want to rush into things, especially when the "I miss the time when racing games weren't all Forza" crowd is focusing pretty hard on Distance right now.

I like Wacky Wheels.

Never made much sense to me for it to be a racing game in the first place. I mean I get that it's a prequel but Eric wasn't even a racer, he was an artist. Is it just because of the iconic T-Bird death scene? As licensed games go this is just shamefully bottom of the barrel. I mean, what's next? A Donnie Darko flight simulator? A Super Mario Bros: The Movie first person shooter? A Star Wars rhythm game? Jesus Christ.
