I am sorry that you do not understand the joy of messing with bugs built into a game itself, rather than outright using the console.

I haven't used the Freeside and Strip Open mods because they are supposed to jack everything up with old saves or if you ever have to uninstall them.

The Outside Bets cut content mod is seriously my bag, though. If you got all the DLC one at a time and started wondering where everyone went at Primm or Camp McCarran, go get it.

these two are related

one time I was playing as The Worst Necromancer in Oblivion and my combat goal was to skitter past anyone i didn't need to kill by throwing 206 bones at 'em in one glitchy Havok mass because i didn't understand the animation part after the conjuring. npcs either freaked out and got stuck or tried to swim in the bones like scrooge mcduck

if you dupe a huge pile of armor there's a chance it slinkies off into the sky and that's pretty funny

edit:

Once you start a clipboard collection, the tendency is to take it as far as you can.

It's kind of unfortunate that you immediately get the Lucky 38 penthouse before or after Benny gives you that suite. It's a nicer suite but it's like four loading screens away and all your buddies are hanging out at the hotel across the street.

It'd depend on the platform. You don't want to spawn over 600 items at a time on Oblivion 360 or it hardlocks, but 4k of something spawned at once on PC is fine.

I don't know how it'd be handled with individual clipboards because no human being is bored enough to drop one at a time and get enough to lock. Not even like, ulililiilia.

Every playthrough, I discover a slightly new way to resolve the whole Benny/Platinum Chip thing. game's so good

but here's the thing that always bothers me: why does Caesar just let you go down into the bunker by yourself? even if he's afraid of traps, why doesn't he send one of his own scrubs down there as opposed to a total stranger to his cause?

His legion is by design totally unsuited to handle super high tech stuff. Anyone he sent down there wouldn't be able to tell a platinum chip slot from his own rear end.

I'm not sure why he trusts your word at having done the job though. Maybe it's because he is so used to unquestioning obedience that his assumption is you did what he told you.

that makes some sense. still. in retrospect I think it would have played out smoother if caesar sends someone down with you, and you have the chance to get them killed by robots (or kill them and claim robots did it), or you can do a speech check to convince the guard who tags along that you're destroying all the robots while you're actually beefing them up.

being able to provide caesar some kind of fake token of proof would have made it a stronger scene. I think I'd come away from the camp feeling much sneakier if he hadn't just shrugged his shoulders and said, "that big noise go boom so all the bad monster bots go byebye"

Also, part of his power over the legion stems from the low tech tactics & methods he taught them. He doesn't want any of his men getting exposed to high technology & losing their reason for revering Caesar.

This is a technical reason actually. DLC scripts are unable to interact with main game scripts.

The more convoluted aspects of House's plan and the Legion just happening to have set up camp directly on top of a factory of sophisticated Killbots are probably the weakest aspects of New Vegas's story imo. Unless there's an explanation for the latter part but I don't remember there being one.

I forgot about Crimson Caravans' secret deal with the Van Graafs. McLafferty just straight up has a bunch of caravaneers murdered. I don't think I've ever resolved this plot line before.

The noises in Vault 22 (the plant vault) are really unnerving. I forgot about that unintelligible radio voice that sounds like it's coming through the vents, and when I heard it for the first time this playthrough all my fine hairs went up.

Fuligin posted:

Caesar knows the hatch has something to do with the Lucky 38; he knows Mr. House is desperate to get the Platinum Chip; he knows the Chip and the hatch share a sigil. I don't think the game says as much, but I just assumed that Legion scouts found the hatch at some point, and when Caesar put two and two together he decided to move his entire army on top of the hatch to prevent Mr. House from accessing it. It could be dumb coincidence, too. The camp is probably meant to be a lot bigger than it seems in-game due to engine limitations.
