One of the reasons why this is funny is that for everyone under the age of about, oh, 22, the Matrix probably is just kind of a hokey action movie that seems to be full of standard post-apocalypse tropes, a dated sense of the internet's importance, several plot holes (second law of thermodynamics say that the entire 'people as source of energy' makes no sense) and of course "Whoa".

But I have to admit, when I first saw it at the age of 21, I was pretty blown away. It wasn't that it was the first time that the entire Cartesian demon argument had been presented to me, but it was certainly the flashiest! It all seemed like a pretty invigorating look into reality at the time.

So yeah, not quite to the extent of this article, but this is all kind of "funny because it is true" for me.
