They have pretty distinct voices but for whatever reason it can be hard to really "identify" people using only their voices, I couldn't tell who was who for a while. It doesn't help to look at their pictures either because they all look the same. But eventually you'll get there. I actually think Andrew's pretty unfunny, but I love Eric and Steve. Chris is pretty good too.

Man I listened to a few early Yeah It's That Bad to see if it's a a decent alternative once I finish burning through the WHM backlog and... eh. So far it's like half the length but feels twice as long, they're really good at talking a lot without saying anything interesting. If anything it really drives home how despite the casual vibe of WHM, they really know their stuff, both as film buffs and entertainers.

TetsuoTW posted:I'm really starting to appreciate that one guy on a lot of comedy podcasts, the one who's not the loudest or the most jokey, but who has a really understated way of just dropping amazing jokes almost off-handedly, to the point that sometimes no-one even notices until a couple of moments later. Eric's definitely that guy on WHM. Yep, I grew to love Adam on You Look Nice Today for the same reason.

I guess I don't see how you can think "C'mon stop riffing about stuff and talk about the movie!", and still enjoy WHM at all, since off topic riffs are kind of their bread and butter. I thought the ads were plenty funny myself.

LORD OF BUTT posted:Man, 1997 was kind of a lovely year for blockbusters. Lost World, Speed 2, Batman and Robin, Air Force One, Steel, Spawn, Kull the Conqueror, and then a brief period of respite before the double-punch of Alien: Resurrection and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, then Tomorrow Never Dies and The Postman to round it out. I'm amazed at how many of those I saw in theaters, I must've done nothing but go to the movies that summer.

Also I finally listened to The Lost World and when they were trying to remember what Goldbum's "go faster" quote was I really wanted to jump in and tell them it's "Increase your rate of climb." Because everyone needs to know that.

BlameSpacePod posted:You're right. Sorry for posting guys! The best trick the devil ever pulled was posting on SA and then, poof: Slenderman. I just wanna say please don't stop posting just because some people are dicks! I totally get where you're coming from about it being ok to like a movie. As I've gotten older I've realized there's really no line between liking something, and ironically "liking" it to make fun of it. It's all just fun; I'll riff on and make fun of bits in my favorite movies when I rewatch them. Your knowledge and more importantly your enthusiasm for film really comes throw and elevates WHM to a truly great podcast, it's very clear that all you guys genuinely love film and know what the hell you're talking about. I don't mind ads, power to the guys for getting paid, but I hate the style of the Uber ad where they read off a script "I use it all the time, I love it, and what's great is you're your own boss, etc". It just puts a bad taste in my mouth since presumably the conversational tone is supposed to make it feel genuine but they're clearly reading off a script. The stuff where they talk about the product and make side-jokes etc is fine.

Did you pitch it with those exact words? Because if so I don't know how they didn't pick it

He flies up to the ceiling and pops.

It's probably because you left her alone for several hours on a date and returned with a videogame.

He and Kirk are never in the same room the whole movie). I'm bummed that they apparently wrote off IV as the worst when it's solidly in the top 3 and arguably the best of them.
