The one I will never not laugh at is

drballitch.com

Because

1. His name is Dr. Ballitch.
2. His name is Dr. Harold Ballitch.
3. His name is Dr. Harold Ballitch II which means the original Harry Ballitch refused to curse his child with the same name but then someone along in the lineage decided to honor him and undo his work.

I don’t think that that’s a given. The rules for name suffixes aren’t followed nearly so universally.

Your character in Fallout 4 is a person who got put in cryo-stasis in a vault as the bombs were dropping.

The FO1 screenshot is from a prologue movie newsreal about the Canadian war. The FO4 protagonist is a Canadian war veteran or adjacent. If you're wondering why the FO4 protagonist is a pre apocalypse war veteran, bless you for not playing FO4, you don't want to find out.

He's canonically in the military. The woman is always a lawyer. I don't think Fallout 4 is as bad of a game as some people say it is, I personally enjoyed it, but it really does not cater to those who enjoy freedom and options when it comes to roleplaying their characters.

"Carbons? Purge? What are you talking about?!"

FO4 is like a lot of distinct chunks of disparate possibly-good games that are stuck together in a way that makes zero sense, slathered with a thick coat of the worst Dad Game Plot out of an entire decade of games lousy with them

If only Fallout 4 had X to Shaun, I would have accepted my assigned role as a concerned parent looking for their son (but not concerned enough not to do a million side quests first)

He's a suburban dad, but being a veteran of Alaska is why he gets a space in the vault and is generally the excuse for being able to use power armor and gently caress up the wasteland rather than just dying immediately.

There's a funny Canadian Annexation Recreation society bit in Fallout: Tactics where they recreate the invasion of Canada by walking over a line and claiming the country now belongs to the USA.

does the male intro say "war never changes" like a dozen times because thats like the most classically "intellectual" line the series has.

Fun fact, luigi's mansion had a dedicated 'yell for mario' button because after making the controlls they had one button left over, and one of the devs was like 'let's remind the player they are looking for mario'

It's not exactly a bad idea as reasons go to have a protagonist who knows their way around guns and power armour, but as said everything I hear is the game really doesn't seem interested in actually exploring the premise well.

it also falls apart because like someone else said, the female player character option is canonically a lawyer instead of a soldier and it doesn't change how the game plays at all, they're both equally able to shoot guns and use power armor
