duTrieux. posted:mr. dog was there a period of time when windows updates would disable the fingerprint reader and you'd have to go and rollback the driver with the one from the lenovo support page or was that just me nah the same problem exists with the lenovo pen tablet driver lenovos still trying to get blood out of the thinkpad brand turnip

good thing i use neither windows nor the dumb fingerprint scanner then and yeah it's skin oil ofc but they should have recessed the keyboard more instead of trying to shave another 1mm off the thickness. i don't actually see the smudges unless i like, put my head on the keyboard and look up at the screen (or look at it from directly overhead) but still.

my X1 carbon was repaired and delivered yesterday. The adaptive keyboard strip was working. All was well. about half an hour ago the screen went bonkers and the machine stopped accepting input. i turned it off and then on and everything was blinking: keyboard backlight, adaptive strip, power light, caps lock light on the shift key, etc. The power button was not responding so I used a pin to press the tiny backup reset switch on the bottom (lol). the x1 carbon continued to blink at me when I turned it back on. i removed the back panel and disconnected the battery to be thorough but when i powered it back up the blinking continued. 😿

The online ticket request form is weird. It's still hosted and managed by ibm. every text field has a little notice that that text field accepts french characters. the City field allows eight characters. the Problem description box allows one-hundred and fifty.

Apparently you can put the keyboard from a T420 and a screen from an X1 into a Thinkpad T430. If the T450 turns out to be poo poo, this may be the best option for me.
