lol, friend of mine bought a corner house in the burbs that has like some rocks in the corner as sort of like a lawn feature thing, and all the neighborhood kids apparently sit on the rocks all day after walking to the 7-11 and are all noisy. 27 year old yelling at kids to get off his lawn, p funny. they also leave cigarette butts and stuff.

i've had to pay extra deposits and fees but never actually pet rent in SF/Berkeley.

one time it was a 500 deposit and a 500 fee (got the 500 deposit back) and the other was a 200 deposit, which i got back.

current place, no deposit/fee/rent or even Pet Resumes probably because I'm not breeding pitbulls

ad targeting can get pretty specific but we don't actually get any data on fb users.

like for example if we wanted to buy ads and show them to:

males 18-34
who live in the top 10 metro areas in the US
who have at least 2 of the following likes (and we can weight these, rank them, etc) my little pony, doritos, mountain dew, shoney's, nabisco and hot topic
and who also must like either xbox or sony playstation (official pages)
and who update once a week or more
with more than 100 friends
etc etc etc

we can set up that targeting (and retargeting!), like if you go to our website and click to the page for Spaceman 2015 but don't buy it, we can put an ad in ur feed that is like 'Spaceman 2015 now 10% off!" and link back to the buy page with a special discount. p cool.

but we never ever get like a spreadsheet that is like "James Q. Jameson matches ur targeting, here is his full profile and pics and poo poo"

the secret to ordering fries at in n out is to ask for them "light well"

because they come out like poo poo normally, and if you ask for them well you get a tray full of black carbon, so you ask for light well and get pleasantly crunchy delicious fries, much more like McD's fries.

and then when we were pulling up to my apt building he started mashing some buttons on his phone and was like 'whoa you have a 5 star rating' and i'm like 'really? is that rare?' and he's like 'i check pretty much all my rides afterwards and i'd say less than 1/20 is 5 stars, you must be super nice'

Uber Adds Safety Checklist To App After Drivers Charged With Sex Assault
December 31, 2014 8:44 PM

quote:

(CBS) – The Chicago operators of Uber have added a safety checklist to their hail-a-ride smartphone app in response to high-profile sexual assault accusations against Uber drivers, the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting.
So far, the “safe ride checklist” is available to app users only in Boston and Chicago. An Uber driver in each city was charged in December with raping a female customer.

“We are being responsive,” Chris Taylor, the general manager of Uber in Chicago, said Wednesday. “Given there have been some accusations . . . we want to make sure everyone knows how to use the platform in the safest way possible.”

Under the app change, implemented just in time for New Year’s Eve, a driver photo and license plate number are displayed. An accompanying message urges customers to verify that the photo and license plate match their driver.

“Educating people and providing tips on safety is a very responsible — doing nothing would be weak,” Taylor said when asked if the change to the app did enough.
Customers first noticed the change to the app on Tuesday, the same day a Chicago driver charged with sexually assaulting an intoxicated customer was ordered held on $500,000 bail by a Cook County judge.
Prosecutors say that in early on Nov. 16, a 22-year-old woman ordered a driver using Uber X, a budget-minded service that costs less because it summons contract drivers who use their own vehicles.
Maxime Fohounhedo, 30, who shared an Uber account with his wife, showed up to give the woman a ride, prosecutors said. But instead of taking the woman home, he drove her to his apartment after she fell asleep in his black four-door vehicle.

When she came to, she found herself on a dark leather couch with Fohounhedo on top of her and her pants and underpants down to her ankles, prosecutors said.
Uber spokeswoman Jennifer Mullin said Tuesday that Fohounhedo was removed as an Uber driver as soon as officials at the company were alerted about the alleged attack.
On Wednesday, Taylor emphasized that the company conducts rigorous background checks, running prospective drivers through local, state and federal law enforcement databases.

He also pointed to an email account, supportchicago@uber.com, which is monitored 24 hours a day and allows riders to share feedback.
Frequent Uber X user Rachel Hoge said she first noticed the safety checklist when she ordered a car on Tuesday.
Hoge, 28, of Ukranian Village, said she’s “never had a concern for her safety” using Uber X. But she sees the checklist as a positive step made by the company.

“I think it’s great they are reminding people to be alert,” she said.
When asked if the Safe Ride Checklist goes far enough to ensure rider safety, she suggested that there will always be an element of chance that is out of everyone’s hands.
“It’s not going to deter someone from doing a certain act if that’s . . . why they [became] an Uber driver,” Hoge said.

i passed my first drivers test but like... i was driving my gfs 20+ year old busted up 3 series bmw for it and the driving instructor was like 'ooooooh this is a faaaaaaaaancy car, i can't believe i finally get to ride in one of these!" and she gets in and she's an apprentice instructor and like the teacher person gets in the back taking notes. the apprentice starts like taking pictures of the inside and calls her mom to tell her she's in a BMW and you would NOT believe how nice it is but like, the seats are all ripped up and the car is basically a pos and none of the ac/heat work and the parking brake lever moves but doesn't actually engage anything. but no matter, she's freaking out and mashing all the ac buttons and non-functional heat-warmer buttons (in july, in dallas). she's all 'all right let's roll' and the teacher in the back clears her throat and the apprentice jumps out and is like 'oh right, we gotta check the signals' which i do and she's all "wow that's so fancy the way the blink" i'm totally dumbfounded and a little nervous, but the driving test goes fine up until the very end when I come to a T intersection with a red light. the light is red on approach so I come to a complete stop. a cyclist goes by in front of me I then turn right as per her instructions safely, and get back to the dmv and she gives me the little form and she's like 'you did great except you don't need to stop at a red light at a T intersection if you're turning right." the instructor lady nods in agreement. i take my 90/100 and drive off forever, still making stops at red lights at t-intersections.

that's my driving test story, i hope that helps

the same poo poo that's been tearing up stockton for the last year and change. it turns out those machines can't go backwards so they had to punch out the otherside of the hill, leveling most of chinatown in the process and allowing high rise condo/lofts to be built.
