The important thing is to look drivers side as it looks like the passengers side took the blunt of the landing while the drivers side looks a little bit better. We have to be worried about the neck, but there's a chance he's ok. He's also a world class athlete. I walked away from one of these, so there's a chance he will too. Prayers up.

He could very well be fine, I was taken on a stretcher after I was t-boned when I was sixteen and had no injuries. For the next three days though he is going to be one sore fucker.

Because he's not a doctor (and could be concussed or in some other way unreliable), and they'd rather take no chances while a doctor confirms than risk injury while bringing him to the hospital. It's just standard procedure for that 1% of the time that someone says they're fine and are not. Plus some injuries can be subtle and he may not realize he has a broken bone or something if it's not being directly stressed at the time.
