At the end there's a fight against a dragon that's as grueling and stupid as all the other fights. That said you can just avoid combat altogether a lot of the time, using dialogue options.

Oh, and there's even more watching Witcher do animations in place of just going to a menu or moving someplace or whatever, near the end as well. It goes mostly downhill from the Tutorial.
