Dunno if there's a way to do it with Drive, but the Dropbox app auto-uploads your photos as normal files.

The glass chin is where the display/digitizer driver lives. It's possible to squeeze buttons on top of it, as HTC used to do before they switched on on-screen ones, but there's no way to fit a large speaker on there.

I admit it's goofy looking but it can't be helped without losing the nice audio v:shobon:v

Regardless, I'm sure HTC could ditch the huge bezels and retain the speakers. I wouldn't be surprised if the bezel is purely a design decision, and one of many rather poor ones.

Can I get my Nexus 5 to record in 120 fps if I just use the right app?

It's both. The Nexus 5s hardware can be convinced to record 1080p@60fps or 800x600@120fps using a hacked driver, although it's a massive kludge that breaks all conventional camera apps in the process.

Google could add the software switch to make it work properly but they haven't because reasons.

That's pretty much how Apple does it, the biometrics run on a second tiny embedded processor which has exclusive access to the sensor and stored data, so even with total control of the main CPU you can only ask "Match? Yes/No" and not see the specifics.

Hopefully Qualcomm were equally thorough with their isolation.

The bits of the AMA we didn't already know:

Storage is eMMC 5.0, not the faster UFS 2.0 that Samsung are using now
USB data is still running at 2.0 speed
They are trying to get T-Mobile band 12 working before shipping
Full device encryption is backed by ARMv8 intrinsics, shouldn't cripple performance like it did on the N6
No support for HDMI out, they assume you'd use a Chromecast
No support for Bluetooth aptX codec, but they're looking into it

e:
5X has the same optics as the 6P, as well as the same sensor which we already knew. Only difference is the more advanced ISP in the SD810.
6P has the latest generation Samsung AMOLED tech
P stands for Premium, X stands for... Core?

5X has the fingerprint reader too, but otherwise yeah. The camera sensors and optics are the same but the 6P has 240fps slowmo (vs 120fps), 30fps burst capture and electronic stabilization that the 5X lacks due to its weaker ISP.

repiv

6P was never going to have wireless charging, it can't penetrate a metal case and the glass window at the top is too small. We can only speculate why the 5X lost it, probably a mix of cost, thickness, fingerprint reader in the way and reversible-connector turbo-charging making it less important.

And yeah, Marshmallow has a standard API for fingerprint authentication.

I keep hearing this and believe it, but it runs the 810. Why does a different plug shape mean it suddenly won't with QC 2.0?

QC2.0 isn't automatically available because it has an 810, the device needs to pair it with a Qualcomm power management controller, and be certified by Qualcomm, and have a licence fee paid to Qualcomm.

The OnePlus Two uses an SD810 and they also opted to skip QC2.0 to save a few dollars (but forgot to add an alternative quick charge method because :oneplus:).

My Note 5 has no problem picking up "Farnswood Lane" when I say it into Google Maps, but my wife's iPhone doesn't understand when you say the same thing into Google Maps. Hers picks up "Farnsworth" or "Barnswood" every single time. Is it because Google Maps isn't as good on Apple or because her microphone is older and not as good or something?

With the exception of always-listening hotwords like "OK Google" all voice recognition is offloaded to the cloud. If Google Maps is using the native API for voice it will be processed by Apples servers instead of Googles on iOS.

Needless to say Apple has a lot less experience with that kind of thing :v:

Isn't the SD810 the antithesis of amazing battery life? The OnePlus Two underclocked the 810 and gained 200mAh over the One, but lost about 20% of the Ones battery life. Same story with the Z3C to Z5C - gained 100mAh but lost about 15% endurance.

We'll find out soon I suppose.
