Fallen Rib
#5: Yowamushi Pedal: The thing I like most about this show is that both the usual rival characters of the hot-blooded, passionate idiot and the cool, aloof genius are present - and both of them are really good friends with the actual protagonist, who's mostly just a dork.

#4: Haikyuu: Haikuu is not a terribly novel sports anime. The characters are pretty archetypal sports manga characters and there's not a lot of big twists. It is, however, very well animated and acted, and it's always nice to have a good sports anime around.

#3: Space Dandy: It's Space Dandy. It's great. If you don't like it, you're wrong.

#2: Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun: I already really loved the manga when the anime was announced so this kind of feels like cheating, but it's just really hilarious. The voice acting is perfect, and like other people have said, every character is the best character.

#1: Ping Pong: Ping Pong is probably the best anime I've ever watched. Pretty much every single character - including some unnamed background characters! - develops dramatically over the course of the series and ends up being much deeper than they first appear. Go watch Ping Pong if you haven't already.

Edit: drat, this was a good year for sports anime :toot:
