I'd love to pick a Kirschen because they're vile, but that Ramirez cartoon is so loving awful in that it doesn't even make sense and it's not even about the Middle East as much as it is a vehicle for him to criticize Obama, even if that criticism doesn't make any sense. Thus it wins as the worst Middle East cartoon by default. Worst Police Brutality Cartoon: A Worst Torture Report Cartoon: K. This was a tough one, even tougher than the Middle East cartoon, but I have to give it to Ramirez for concern-trolling about drones and also the subtle racism against blacks. Worst The Interview Cartoon: D Worst cartoon about a tragedy: D. So bad it wins twice in my mind. Worst caricature: A. The others are truly awful but at least they're somewhat recognizable as who they're supposed to be. Ramirez can't even pull that off. Worst "A Thing Happened" cartoon: O, though it was a tough choice between that, F, and C. Worst label: E Least concealed bigotry in a cartoon: H. Another tough choice and I was a contender, but I think H wins purely because it uses a real person and has her speak ebonics. The Bish caricature is completely racist but there's no attempt to make him look like an idiot at least. Laziest cartoon: A. Literally impossible to be lazier than submitting a blank square. Most easily reinterpreted: H Overall worst political cartoon of the year: C. A is pretty bad too but at least it's able to be understood. C is just mind-boggling. Best edit/parody: G. Ye Fowl Herald is great but G made me laugh the hardest out of anything.

So I and a lot of other people have had trouble choosing which nominee to vote for because there aren't really any criteria. It's a year away, but I think in the next Gay Abortions we should be able to vote for both an Incompetent and an Odious cartoon for each category. Branco's "Putin-sama so strong, shooting down airlines  " cartoon simply isn't the same category of awful as Beeler's "Obama cares more about golf than human lives, especially this particular human life, oh no golf club noooo" cartoon even if they're the same degree of awful.It doesn't work exactly for "most racist" or "worst label," but it does work for most of the other categories, especially "worst caricature." Jesus Christ we needed Incompetent and Odious votes for that, the Holder cartoon is physically unpleasant to look at just because of its geometry, but the Anita Sarkeesian thing is something I still have trouble believing is real, and they both deserve to go down in history as The Worst.

Next time we might have a best song award, but tabulating votes already takes several hours and I'm always worried about increasing the number of categories.
