I didn't have video games as a kid, but my aunt got me a subscription to Nintendo power so I would "play" through the level maps in my head. I'm pretty sure it's responsible for some of my great spatial/visual memory, or maybe the reason I thought that was an obvious thing to do with the magazine was because I already had one.
