if you mean avoiding re downloading I'm p sure you can just copy data from steam apps once you have started the installation on a new pc unless that's different now

If you clik on the steam toolbar you cna find backup and restore game files. Use that its pretty simple and im sure theres some compression involved

Mario 3D land wasn't quite as good as people said, but 3D world was hella good. Kind of a step down after SMG 1 and 2 but I think those are legit two of the top 10 games ever made so
