Even if the SNP were to agree to a coalition they would be able to pull out of coalition at any point largely risk free for the same reason and so Labour simply wouldn't be able to trust then as coalition partners. There's little benefit for either side and considerable benefit for the SNP in not joining with Labour as long as they can spin it as being Labour's fault.

we aren't going to get a grand coalition, we aren't Germany. An outright coalition between Labour and the SNP is very unlikely, but I wouldn't be surprised if you got a supply and confidence arrangement...

My prediction: Just before the GE Cameron will open the Seventh Seal and unleash the apocalypse. Clegg will come out, just before he's rendered into dust, to say that the Lib Dems tried to block the opening of the Seal and that the Tories had something much worse planned.

It ended in a second election six months later, which lead to a very slim minority which was whittled down over five years, which lead to Thatcherism. If Labour wins a minority this time around and they refuse to go into coalition (particularly with the SNP) the inevitable second election would skip straight to Thatcherism. e: also, Ed is not charismatic enough to win the debates, and while Cameron isn't exactly the Smiler he'll come off a fuckton more charismatic than Ed or Clegg, so Labour's chances of a majority are kinda screwed unless he goes into them with the charisma of Hitler and the policies of Bevahahahahahaha no they're screwed Venomous fucked around with this message at 19:27 on Dec 31, 2014 |

I've just gotten up to the bit where Candide quits the paradise of El Dorado because being rich in an enlightened peaceful utopia is unsatisfying in comparison to lording it over paupers in disease ridden war torn Europe.
