I'm writing a bunch of E5 evals and their brag sheets make me want to choke someone. Whatever, garbage in, garbage out. Like the lack of effort on these people's parts is hilarious, especially since they're all the kind of people to do twenty. Motherfuckers spell at like a 6th grade level, I'd be embarrassed to send a brag sheet like these up to my lpo.

Sorry for that navy bitch, please go back to..whatever the thing about the ship is.

Whoever you submit those to won't let you slide with garbage in, garbage out. Accept your fate and just fix it all now.

With the E5s I'm writing these for, yea not much will change. Understand when I say garbage in, garbage out I'm not literally meaning "Fuuuuucccckkkkk iiiitttttt". I mean I'm doing the best with what they gave me. I'm not going to magic up bullets.

One time I was forced to write an eval for one of my guys, so I wrote it and was honest. It was pretty brutal but the guy was a piece of poo poo (poopkitty will vouch for me). My chief didn't like what I wrote so I told him to write it himself and then I found him hours later sitting at his computer in the write up block, he had two words written in it. "lovely SAILOR" was what it said. I just laughed and walked out.

Please tell me that dude eventually got an adverse eval.

Nope. They gave him a good enough eval to be an instructor to help train the next generation of sailors. I wouldn't write an eval good enough for it so they found somebody else who would. He was the worst at everything. Well, almost everything.

That is one thing I didn't understand about the Navy. If someone is a complete piece of poo poo, their eval should reflect that. We had one guy in my division who was the second worst sailor I had ever seen. So when it came eval time my chief gave him a bad eval using pretty language. Things like, "Keeps Reactor Instrumentation clean with little supervision." I just wish that they'd stop with the coded language and just professionally put down how much someone sucks.

For some reason it is considered a leadership failure if you can't fix Little Johnny.

You must be in 7th Fleet. If anything horrible or even not horrible happens it is a leadership failure here. I don't know if the policy has changed, but a couple of years ago whenever SN Timmy would have some kind of liberty incident, the first khaki would have to explain to Mr. CNFJ himself what happened and where leadership failed.

This is exactly my point. Why the gently caress was he ever a reactor operator if he is as dicked up as all that? Reactor operator, does that mean what it sounds like?

It's been pretty quiet out here in terms of liberty incidents for a while, no murders at least. CNFJ and the other commands have started to take some of the pressure off; I think the sailors don't have to do liberty plans, maybe curfew has been removed. Which means that something horrible will probably happen any minute and I should go stock up on booze at the minimart because that is the first thing banned when horrible things happen.

LCS is certainly useless. I guess FFGs could do SQR-19 operations with their legacy green screens. Never mind, both.

The Aussies bought our OHPs and added SM-2 and ESSM capability with VLS systems making them capable and reliable FFGs for a lot less than our LCS crapheaps.

Oh, and the Navy is replacing C-2s with Ospreys.

This loving Pentagon...

The Aussies totally did it right and we could have done it too. We could have done this LCS/FF/whatever thing better. How can you build a ship that big and it can't do anything? One of the other guys in the office said they should just put the carrier's TACAN on it and have it run around to distract the Chinese, I didn't want to point out that it can only run around for a couple of days before it's out of gas.

Maybe I should have said that as a sonar technician, the LCS seems useless to me. It also appears helpless in an AAW environment and kind of under-gunned when compared next to ships with a 5". It has two helos, but so do most other ships. It just seems like a ship with no role other than "defeating anti-access and asymmetric threats in the littorals" whatever that means. Maybe it'll be good for guarding the oil terminals next to Iraq if we're still doing that these days.

They did a whole National Geographic show on them while underway. I discovered that my former WEPS is the CO of one. So I guess the answer is that they got underway without sinking.

Thanks.

I think I'm one of the few exceptions to that policy. As an Officer, the detailers will have to approve my resignation date. My PRD is October and they aren't extending SWO shore tours (SWO sucks so much that they have to bring in a ton of ENS to get the Dept Head numbers they need - most roll to shore before getting out). For GI Bill reasons I'm submitting my resignation for January since I was a December grad. Talking to the detailer, that's the most they'll grant me.

My current job is actually really awesome, so I don't mind staying up to about the last month, especially because December is really chill. Since resignation orders are written by month and not a specific date I plan to take terminal for the entire month of January and then officially leave service on the 31st to take advantage of a full paycheck. That extra 30 days I can sell back for money which is entirely bonus.

I don't need the time for job hunting because I'll be heading to grad school that year - I may take a reserve billet ~6 months, or I may just take some lovely job that I won't mind quitting in 6 months time.

A coworker of mine that taught department head school at Newport was by his CO that it takes 200 ensigns to make one department head. To me that seems like a pretty bad attrition rate.
