PS4 only. Their PS3 download deals aren't great other than the Sly Collection for $4.50.

Wry and wise,
but also very sexual.

Destiny sounds pretty tempting, but is the US version of the game limited to only connecting to US servers?

Quick EU store update. I'll go in-depth later

PS+ games are now up. All are available until 4 February.

PS4/PS3/Vita bundle The Swapper PS4 411 MB, PS3 283 MB, Vita 220 MB

PS4 game inFamous First Light 10 GB

PS3 game DuckTales: Remastered 643 MB
PS3 game Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition 750 MB (cross-buy PS3|Vita), not available in Germany, New Zealand, and maybe a few other places.
PS3 game Prototype 2 12.1 GB

Vita game Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition 451 MB (cross-buy PS3|Vita), not available in Germany, New Zealand, and maybe a few other places.
Vita game Gravity Crash Ultra 89 MB, link to NZ store, only free in Germany, New Zealand, and maybe a few other places.
Vita game Whoa Dave! 45 MB (includes free access to future PS4 version, which is not out yet)

Good news: Prototype 2 is now available in Australia and New Zealand and free for PS+ members.
Bad news, but only for New Zealand: You all didn't get Duke Nukem 3D Megaton Edition. You got Gravity Crash Ultra, along with Germany and maybe other places.

Same new releases found in the EU store as in the NA store this week: Only Duke 3D and Whoa Dave came out, along with Prototype 2 for Australia and New Zealand and maybe a few other regions.

Part 2 of The January Sale is live! Once again, the PS Blog went :effort: in showing the sales, so I'll get on that when I can. There won't be a part 3, so this is all we're getting until the sale ends on 21 January. Same blog post admits there won't be a full store update this week.

One thing on sale is Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes:
PS4 version £7.99/€9.99/AU$14.95 ✚£7.19/€8.99/AU$13.46
PS3 version £3.99/€4.99/AU$7.55

Another thing on sale is Vita game Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc for £11.99/€14.99/AU$22.95 ✚£10.79/€13.49/AU$20.66

The Light is the power of Dance

Destiny's matchmaking isn't region segregated, if you buy the "US" version of the game you can play with anybody in the world.

I've lurked here for years
Is the web version of the store down (https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-us/home/main) again? When I try to log in it just brings up 'Sign In Failed' message. Using a different password brings up a different message.

Football Manager Classic 2014 for Vita is missing from both NA and EU stores. It just came out last year! I hope this is temporary.

Notes:

PS+ game availability:
Prototype 2 ended being available for Australia and New Zealand after all, and free for PS+ members. :toot:

Devolver Digital, publishers of Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition said on Twitter that the game won't be out in Germany, New Zealand, and Russia. They also said Australia, but they got it.
Those excluded countries got Vita game Gravity Crash Ultra free with PS+ instead.

Driveclub PS+ Edition did not come out this week.

Second round of sales are up for January Sale, listed in bold above. All of the January Sale will end on 22 January except for Assassin's Creed Unity, which is listed to end next week.

I'm assuming Tales of Hearts R bundle will be around forever. It was suppose to change to the game only months ago, but it never happened.

These free things will either go away or not be free anymore next week. Links can be found above:
Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f 2nd: Rin, Len & Kitty Skin, Skin: All Stars (stationery), and Skin: Miku & Luka (Heart) (all PS3/Vita bundles)
Minecraft: Birthday Skin (cross-buy PS4|PS3|Vita)
Skullgirls Encore: Eliza Character Unlock

From the blog comments in the January Sale post:

Back to Prototype 2, as of now, it is not free for PS+ members in Italy and Spain.
There are actually 2 versions of the game, one English/French/German which is free for PS+, and one Italian/Spanish which is not as of now.
Portugal store has both versions, so make sure to grab the right version if you're from there.

Football Manager Classic 2014 is suppose to still be on sale, but it has been pulled from the store. The same game is also gone from the NA store. Someone from the game confirmed on Twitter that the game is gone for good due to expiring licenses.

Do not buy Nidhogg! As of now, the sale version does not give out the Vita version. Looking at the background data, the Vita entitlement in the sale version is missing some characters, making it look like there is no Vita version. :cripes: The non-sale version of the game doesn't have this problem.

I just played through/watched MGS4 and thought it was profoundly mediocre, was glad I had it over with, and now there's MGSV for 5 eurobucks and I'm sitting here thinking "maybe." There's something wrong with me.

There are sooooo many games out there that would be a perfect fit to the vita, that aren't ported. It's outright baffling. Especially things like Mercenary Kings that already have a playstation port.

That was announced for Vita some time ago, just a matter of 'when'. Unless it was silently cancelled.

I checked their twitter after posting that and the last thing they mentioned was "no ETA". I did ask them whether that means no ETA till completion, or till start of work.

But okay, I guess open world games are the definition of level design now.

yeah they kinda are, those big complex maps were so you could make large playing areas while working around the constraints of the machines at the time, now we can just get given a loving island miles upon miles across to explore instead, which is more freedom than was ever available in doom etc and about a million times better, especially when you're talking about "amazing adventures", whats more amazing than flying around a big rear end island inhabited by animals and enemies doing whatever the gently caress you want? its certainly better than dumb doom maps.

never mind that you still had linear games, and linear games aren't automatically bad. i remember half life 2 being pretty loving linear for example.

so yeah the definition of level design now is: linear well designed story focused games or big rear end open world adventures where you can do anything. its pretty rad man.

Does it take a couple days for Playstation Plus status to update when you purchase a new subscription? I got an email letting me know my trial was expiring, so I went ahead and purchased a year's subscription yesterday on my PC. I checked my profile status this morning and I still have an expiration date of 1/10/15.

I just want to make sure there's not another step I need to follow to add my subscription time.

I believe it automatically updates with the new time limit the moment the original one expires, so in your case on the 10th - I think that also has sometimes irritating effect of updating your download list with the PS+ games that were claimed and setting them as the first ones on the list.

This. I renewed PS+ earlier this year and it took until the original expiration date to renew...and yes all the free games get bumped up to the top of your list.

If you're buying it for Inquisition, don't bother. Anything story related can be done with a web app.

Actually, just use the web app and you will know everything neccesary about DA2

I actually want to get started on Dragon Age Inquisition but I have no motivation to start because I want to fast-track the first game which I have on PC with all DLC.

It just feels like a huge amount of work to get through that one with a mouse and keyboard when I'd prefer to be on the couch with a controller, plus the fact that it's a huge amount of content. Blehhhh. It's why I haven't gotten past the first hours of the Witcher, despite the fact that I want to play 2 (and 3 soon).

vvvvv: That's my annoying nerdy hangup: I feel like I would miss out on the relationships with returning party members. I wish they had set the third game at least a hundred years later so new players could start without feeling like they're missing out.

You can basically go through a 10-minute thing online that lets you create a world state for inquisition, it just makes you go through all the choices of origins, awakening and 2. No reason to actually play through them unless for some reason you need to see the story (there are references/characters from the first few games in DA:I but you totally don't need to get them to appreciate the story.)

You're a new character, so it's not like people are referring to things you did that you were there for. A guy will reference a thing that he did, and if you played the previous game, you'd be like "Oh yeah, that was cool", and if you didn't, you'd be like "Oh cool, that was a neat story".
