I downloaded the apk out of curiousity. Gameplay holds up so far, and after a year+ of playing SIF it's nice to have a large lineup of songs I've never played before. Not 100% on the hold-and-drag notes, but I think it'll get better as I get used to it.

I feel the same way.

It's also a teensy bit disorienting to have nonstatic backgrounds and notes that don't always follow the same path to the spot where you have to tap.

Also I haven't watched beyond the first episode of the new season so I should probably get caught up on that.

If it helps, you can change the backgrounds to static portraits with the button at the top right of the set list. It'll say "3D" something. There's two 3D and two 2D options, but I have no idea what the difference is and I'm out of LP at the moment to tinker with them.

Figured out a few things, like how buying songs at the jukebox adds them to the setlist, but I'm still unsure about things like what the star rating for idols does, or what the purpose of messing with the office building is.

Bottom 2d option is static, top 2d option has them hopping around.

Star rating I think has them gain fans faster? Not certain what that gets you, though.

That oughta help lighten the battery drain for me too. I think based on the PVs, if I had to guess, the difference between the two 3D/2D modes changes the cut-in style (only saying "Score up" or whatever vs. doing that and also having an image of the girl whose skill[?] activated in the background as well). I'm assuming the mechanics based on having played School Idol Festival, but not being able to read Japanese, I can't really confirm one way or the other. I'll take it light playing Starlight Stage until there's enough translation of the interface, I guess, since I assume I have all these idols and no idea where to go to manage them.

Idol management is the second option from the left. From there, the top-left option is team management, top-right is cannibalization/level up room, middle-left is evolution, which you do by feeding them the items you get from live shows. Mid-right is where you can feed the same card to itself to increase its star rating, bottom-left I'm assuming is to sell cards, and bottom-right is your card list.

I'll try to get some screenshots going when I get home to help out a bit.

Okay, here's what I got:

Bottom-left above the main menu has a scrolling current events thing. One of the buttons leads to a scratch-card like page where you get rewards for doing stuff. If you click on an undone box it should link you to where you can unlock it.

This is pretty self-explanatory. Unlike SIF, evolving idols uses items you gain from clearing songs or other rewards. Star Rank is increased by feeding the same idol on itself.

Same deal. Main scenario's unlocked as your Producer Rank increases, and side stories... I haven't really messed with, honestly.

Debut/Regular/Pro difficulties of main songs are unlocked automatically, and after you clear all three difficulties you unlock Master difficulty. Daily songs (or at least I'm assuming they're daily) have all four difficulties unlocked automatically.

Unlike SIF, score/combo/clear rewards are shuffled to your rewards box instead of directly into your inventory.

Still not 100% on this screen. You can upgrade the shelf and the two desks with Gold, which have a farmville-like timer before the upgrade finishes. You can only upgrade one item at a time, and you can skip the timer by using a rainbow star gem. The shelf yields rewards at regular intervals, and I'm guessing upgrading the shelf just holds more reward before it hits that Max label. Maybe increases the quality of the rewards too, we'll see.

The jukebox in the center plays songs you've cleared in Live Shows, and you can buy new songs with gold to play in both the jukebox and in Live Shows.

In the the room view, you can buy more stuff with the shopping basket button. The default tab shows you the stuff that is more than aesthetic, including two new item-producing cabinets.

Here's the good poo poo. Make your premium draws on this screen, or regular draws on the other.

Options menu. The General/Live Show settings have a bunch of stuff that I haven't tinkered with, and aside from the volume settings I have no idea what anything does.

Forgot to label it here, but it should be obvious that the numbers at the bottom are your friend code.

Let me know if you know what anything is that I don't have, and I'll edit it in.

Any chance there'd be enough interest to make a separate thread for this (maybe a general mobile idol rhythm game thread to include LLSIF)?

How did the pre-registering work out, if anyone did that? Are you required to make a bandai-namco ID and sign in with it before you play the game, if you didn't?

Not sure how much foreign interest Starlight Stage is going to pick up if they don't translate it, but plenty of people seem to be into LLSIF at least.

I made an id but didn't have to sign in with it or anything. What they do is, they email you a code, then you enter that on a page along with your producer id and that should send the prereg bonus to your present box.

I think at best SIF and SS could be folded into one thread. I'll admit the only reason I'm here is to chat about the game anyway.

I actually would have been annoyed if they kept the "keep everyone together" mission throughout, as it would make all of them seem extra selfish given that they're not the only department at risk.

Also "What am I good for?" "Being a cheerleader." was the most hilariously depressing inspiration I've ever seen.
