Or be lazy like me and neglect to choose which club used off the tee resulting in amazing driver accuracy % when in actual fact the driver was used on 1 or 2 holes.

Good tips on Putting!

I'll add that for alignment on the medium to long putts you should be looking at the last few feet around the hole. Where does the ball need to be in this last section so that it ends up close to or in the hole as it rolls out? Pick that spot and work your way back.

Nice 66 Kameh! Although I'm quite disappointed with the 30 putts, I expect better ;)

But seriously wtf, 100% Greens and Fairways?!

Can I get a putting lesson Kameh?

I realised that I had never actually designated clubs in Golfshot. You can see I almost prefer my 2i over the driver.

Oh man this is golf porn, awesome stuff. Any tips for playing in the wind? I turn into a spastic and all my shots balloon up and just die.

Kameh posted:

If playing into the wind, grip down an inch on one iron longer (e.g. 6i instead of 7i) and swing *smoothly*. I don't advocate a 3/4 swing, because you'll lose more yardage than necessary. Think more about your "layup swing;" you know, the one where you pure it every time but never actually attempt off the tee box. If you're privy to wind speed before the round, you can look forward to using 1 more club for every 10mph of wind.

If playing with the wind, and you want to maximize yardage off the tee, swing HARDER. This will generate more backspin, allowing the ball to climb higher and ride the wind. In a strong wind, your ball can be knocked down before it's had a chance to carry its full length.

For crosswind shots, http://golf-info-guide.com/golf-tips/playing-conditions/tips-for-handling-a-heavy-crosswind-part-i-golf-tip/ for pretty diagrams.

Good stuff, thank you. A couple of months back I was playing match play for my club and we went up against a coastal golf club. I was dominating with something like 3 up after 9 holes on his home course in the morning calm. Made the turn and the wind started picking up, I lost like 5 holes in a row as the wind got progressively stronger - something like 50km/h. My opponent plays this course all the time so he knew the conditions well. Was a monumental crash from me and I ended up losing.

Will use these tips in the future.

Don't you just hate it when you love the look of a club but it makes you play worse? The Odyssey PT9 has been in my bag for over a month and I just can't get comfortable with it. The feel off the face doesn't work for me.

Going to go back to the old trusty White Hot XG.

Feels dead compared to my other putter. I think that it's more suited to fast greens and the greens at my home course just aren't up to speed. I've also never used a heel putter. Honestly it just doesn't suit my course and I'm not confident with it. Guess I have 2 putters for different courses now :)

That photo looks like they poached our useless green keeper. Guy "repaired" the drainage in the bunkers earlier this year because they were filling up with water all the time. 2 months later they did the same thing. Refuses to do a deep core of the greens - they haven't been done in years. So much potential wasted by bad management. Still love it though, it's a fun course and no 2 holes are the same.

Anyone watching the Barracuda Championship? Andres Gonzales was so frustrated with 4 bogeys in a row that he punched a sign and injured himself.

quote:

After Romero punched the tee box sign, officials checked on him while allowing a group, including Patrick Rodgers, to play through. Romero’s playing partner Wil Wilcox had to endure the delay as well.

Romero decided to play on, taking advantage of the scoring format. A player could lose no more than 3 points on a hole, which was the score assigned to a double bogey or worse. So Romero putted his ball off of each of the final four tees, then picking up the ball to take a double bogey. He went from gaining 3 points to losing 9 points on the day. Afterward, Romero withdrew.

The incident hurts Romero’s chances to keep his PGA Tour card, with the WD projected to keep him in the mid-150s in FedEx Cup points.

Quite a bit of conjecture and I was wondering if he'd do the same thing on all 18 holes for the final round. I guess they convinced him not to...

Managed to sneak in 9 holes yesterday arvo. Experimenting with my Driver and I thought to myself, if I can confidently hit a 2 iron why the hell don't I just use that same swing with the driver?

Managed to hit 3 or 4 drives ~280meters with a little draw, just like my 2i. There's hope for me yet!
