Finally went to take a look at this... I find it frustrating that they're hinging the possibility of a standard version of the game being released on the success of this prohibitively large and expensive version. I would buy a standard version in a heartbeat, even if it was relatively expensive... but I have no interest in paying $500 for a ten square foot version of the game, or paying less to not even get a chance to get the game.

So, the two episodes a week decision seems a lot less like it was purely made by NBC's scheduling department now... since the last four episodes were basically both two-parters, it's been working really well, I think. Neither one would have worked nearly as well with a week's break in between.

That said, viewers can expect a big, emotional send-off in the series finale, which will air on Tuesday, February 24.

“Everyone is there at the end,” Schur said. “The last moments of the show are everybody in the same place at the same time.”

Added star Amy Poehler: “We do say goodbye to some ancillary characters. A lot of them get to say goodbye in different ways, by leaving... or dying.”

Oh, and that same interview backs up what I was saying before about it being their decision to end it and not NBC's.

quote:

Schur and Poehler said it was their decision, and not NBC’s, to end the show after a 13-episode seventh season.

“We pretty quickly came to the same exact conclusion,” Schur said. “As we were heading toward the second half of Season 6, it was like, ‘I feel like it’s one more year and I feel like it’s a short year.’ That’s just what we felt in our guts was the right move creatively. … And then, that’s what we got to do.”

Greg Pikitis is one of my favourite episodes, and the one that made me fall in love with the series, but I'll be okay if he doesn't show up again this season.

I couldn't agree with this more. They seem to be intent on giving everyone a fairy tale ending no matter how irrelevant it is. They are just shoehorning all of these storylines in out of nowhere.

This whole season has been some of the worst television I've willfully subjected myself to in as long as I can remember. I hate to be so negative, but I think at this point they have just completely forgotten what made the show good in the first place and it's rarely funny and sappy as hell. They should have ended it 2 years ago. Good riddance.

I really don't get why anybody in this thread is defending the lovely, stiff pre-set style of interview just because it's prevalent in late night shows.

Even in the Late Night thread, the consensus has generally been that it's not great. And that Craig Ferguson's interview style was a lot better.

Nobody's defending it, just pointing out how stupid it is to complain that the hour-long entertainment products infomercial you decided to watch isn't spontaneous enough.

Why? As I said, Craig Ferguson managed to be spontaneous in the late-night format. It's not impossible. And many comedians manage to go on other late-night shows without sounding like they're doing pre-written bits.

Saying that it's dumb to complain about is not really different from defending it.

I'm not surprised by it, never implied that I was. Maybe you're mistaking me for another poster?

Or you're just jumping to dumb conclusions.

Also, I mostly did just watch Craig Ferguson when he was still on, so I don't know what you're going on about with the "if you thought it was indefensible you wouldn't watch" part. And you can find things annoying/lame without going so far as to think they're indefensible.

Basically the problem is that it walks back some very important character growth in Season 4 (Leslie learning not to be a giant out-of-control steamroller), which is an issue in a lot of sitcoms but more noticeable in one with characters developed as carefully and consistently as P&R's.

To be fair, though, that's pretty true to life. Recognizing your faults doesn't always result in a change of who you are as a person.
