Now, I probably couldn't summit Everest even if I were hauled up by Sherpas in a portable Oxygen tent, but some people have managed it alone with nothing more than some basic climbing gear. Everest today is just Sherpas hauling your rear end up a bunch of ropes and bridges they placed ahead of time while hauling your oxygen bottles for you, right? That hardly seems an impressive accomplishment compared to what the first people to summit Everest must have brought.
