What I wanted the most out of Arc-V when it started was stupid gimmick wrestling-like duelists and for action duels to straight up be brawls, this last episode delivered on both ends with the stupid ninja duelist (complete with overly long scarf) and a guy just punching that LDS dude in the face until (somehow) winning. :allears: The dimension stuff is fun, but the Standard Dimension is ridiculous enough that it can deliver amazing things. Hope it maintains this quality.

^Nope. It's been a while since I read the very first volume, started reading from the second or third since about a week ago (just finished Pandora's duel) but IIRC Atem hasn't actually murdered anyone, there's been a few implied but then it's more implied they just get brain problems for a while.
Jou's murder tally is of two, tho. Kaiba is I think one but not from lack of trying.

e: actually yes, upon rechecking he totally did burn that guy alive with vodka. Some other dude got burned alive as well. So that's two murders for Atem, two for Jou and I guess one from Kaiba and 80 million dollars spent trying to increase those numbers.

Silento posted:

Well, we saw Sora going around doing a bunch of silly duels. There was an enka duel and some others I've forgotten. Good stuff though, would have loved to see it focused on.

Unrelated, but I think I'm gonna post some of the season 3 of 5Ds slice of life episodes I liked. I remember there being one where Jack goes to confront a gang to save a member of security, and of course ends up dueling their leader. But after their leader loses, he doesn't immediately give up and instead tries to kill Jack anyway. Then Jack beats the poo poo out of them with his bare hands. :allears: The only 5Ds character better than Jack was the announcer, and that's high praise for the announcer.

Yeah, totally, there's been a lot of good gimmicks, hell, we opened with a Fist of the Northstar cosplayer, but the Ninja is the one that really clicked for me

Just watched the first couple episodes of Arc-V and... it's very good??? I was not expecting that at all.

Yeah, 'till now it has only had two filler-ish duels, and even then i'd only consider one of them bad. By the point we are at now (ep 39) the main trio have all developed quite a bit, have a pretty good duel ratio and holy poo poo the girl in the group has had a really good win.

Going back to Gx real quick: there is one episode I say everyone should watch no matter what, all the way near the end of season 4, episode 172 starts off with Judai jumping off an exploding building, bouncing from explosion to explosion until he summons Elemental Hero Neos so it'll explode the ground and break his fall, afterwards he picks up a card from the floor and it turns out the villain of the season left it there and Judai is essentially drunk but gets on his motorcycle and drives under the influence. Meanwhile back in the volcano school a kid is using D.A.D. to chump every character that's left on the show, so the dinosaur kid goes to fight him. Back to Judai drunk driving he crashes by the docks and suddenly sees the main villain of the show so he starts dueling him and slurring out that he wants his friend back. Dinosaur Kid is winning so D.A.D. Kid makes him relive his past life: he was a dinosaur. His dinosaur leg they put on him for reasons was his in his past life. And he's fuckign loving it he loves having been a dinosaur but then gets sad because he ate dinosaurs when he was a dinosaus and the D.A.D. kid brings the souls of the herbivores he ate and they start eating him and so he falls into darkness and sorta dies. Back to drunk Judai he's freaking out that the villain is using his best friend's cards until the villains shoots rainbows at him, causing him to sober up and realize he was just drunk fighting his best friend. Then they steal a boat the end.

Well, it could be that Fusion Gongenzaka is the tall figure that went with Fusion Yuzu. That'd bring us up to 4 Yuyas, 3 Yuzus (including the unseen Ruri) and 2 Gongenzakas which seems appropriate.

A manly Gongenzaka duel would be nice but hey, we're getting Dude That Will Punch You For Card Games Vs Yuya And His Two Blood-Thirsty Dragons Trying To Take Over, so that looks promising.

I'm still reading through the manga and say what you will about Pegasus but Marik's the one with the real issues

Pegasus allowed his minions to carry guns and stuff to hang people, Marik decides that's something that needs to be made for the tournament. The process to simply make that required some high-stakes corporate espionage as well since the disk was revealed days before the tournament even. What the gently caress.

Uhh, I'll be perfectly honest. Zexal II is actually really good and very much worth watching (once it gets serious, anyways). The problem is that you have to go through Zexal, which is poo poo and definitely not worth watching.

Zexal is basically the anti-YGO. While normal YGO series get worse by the end, Zexal got a lot better, but it started so drat badly that it really didn't give any Hope to the viewer. I simply can't recommend going through how bad Zexal is only for Zexal II even if I loving loved the Barian Emperors and their arc, which is basically the only thing in Zexal I'm willing to admit I actually liked.

In fact, ArmyOfMidgets is absolutely right, even if the episodes chosen are kind of random. You might as well just watch the last few episodes, since those are actually good, then just skip to Zexal II with a synopsis of what happened in Zexal. It probably will feel weird but if you absolutely must see Zexal it's the way to go, it's not worth going through the beginning of the series, it's not even good to laugh at.

Picked those out specifically because III vs Yuma distilled Yuma's character for the first part and showed Kattobing as a sorta cool ideal to have, while also giving enough info on who the Archlights are. Honestly I'd say that's the point where ZeXal starts going up, and then the last few episodes of Tron because he's a fun as hell antagonist and does his best villain poo poo in his duel against Kaito, and the only proper Numbers fight with Yuma.

e: oh poo poo i'm a dumbass, 47-49 for the III vs Yuma duel. drat it took a longass time to get interesting. In any case if you get really into it then I guess 47 onward is where ZeXal I gets passable to watch.
