Happy Viking's Frothy Pint of Metal is about an ancient Canadian viking who reviews lesser known heavy metal bands. He is extremely passionate about the bands he covers, and goes into the history and culture of the band, their style of music, and is in general very informative as well as funny. His relentless positivity is also really welcome since I feel a lot of critics lean more towards the negative side of criticism. His entuseasim for the bands he reviews has led me to buying the albums for a lot of bands he reviews.

I'd say the best video to start with him would be his Tengger Cavalry review , which I feel shows both what he loves to talk about (folk metal) while also going over a lot interesting stuff about the bands history and musical influences.

Also as luck would have it, he just recently released a new video about Indian band Skyharbor . So I'd say check out both videos, they are both really good.

Phelous just reviewed Motercycle the Pooh 2. Yes, there are apparently two of these things for who knows what reason.

I got my roommate into anime with Fate/Zero, and I've noticed a lot of other people who aren't really into anime have seen it and liked it too. Which, on the one hand, I love because I love Fate/Zero and Fate in general. On the other hand I always have to worry about recommending it to people because of all the stuff in the original VN. Thankfully the Unlimited Blade Worls anime is really good and cuts out most of the rampant sexism.

Didn't see it get posted here, but Linkara posted a video on Ultimate Power #1-2

I know women in comics get drawn really sexually, but WOW, I have never seen a comic where everyone is literally traced from porn. Also, glad to hear he's enjoying Ms. Marvel, its a good and adorable comic.

And wow, Reed Richards really screws over a lot of people/universes

Linkara has his new LOTD episode up, on Marvel Zombies 2

He's been doing the whole series for the past week, and I'm surprised by how much I'm liking them. The series is really dark, but I don't hate it as much as that Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe miniseries that came out, which was probably just as dark as this one.

I just finished the last part of the Escape from Tomorrow review, and I absolutely loved it. Just how far that film goes to basically have no point is astonishing. I also really liked Some Jerk's comment on post modernism and making films anywhere you want, because it really is true. With a small handheld camcorder it's possible to get things that even big budget can't always get. Also that last shot was absolutely amazing and I wonder if he had to do multiple takes, cause getting a long pan like that without any bystanders looking into the camera must have been a pain to get.

Speaking as a Christian, that was one of the angriest I've been at a movie. My mom and dad have a great marriage, despite my dad being an atheist, so seeing a movie say that he was basically being abusive for that just enraged me. It's especially annoying since my college for some reason has big signs for God's Not Dead 2 on the campus.

Saw this earlier, I find it so interesting how Shakespeare gets interpreted over the years. Your Shakespeare Month videos honestly make me more interested in Shakespeare than all those years in highschool!

I was also curious if you had heard about a manga called Requiem of the Rose King. Its an adaptation of Richard III and Henry IV, where the "deformity" that Shakespeare said Richard had was being born intersex. It's actually a really good story about gender and sexuality, and unlike a lot of other similar manga, Richard always identifies as male, even as he starts to fall in love with Henry. It probably wouldn't fit into your videos, since you do movies, but I thought I'd recommend it, since its a a good series regardless.

I'm just happy that he's reviewing Kino's Journey. That series is one of my favorite animes ever, I think it's really under appreciated. I even went out of my way to buy a used copy of the light novel, which sadly only ever got two volumes released over her cause of Tokyopop. Hope it can get brought back now that LNs are popular and stuff like Baccano is getting translated.

I almost got an internship at Threshold Entertainment. I feel like I dodged a bullet when I went with a YouTube group instead.

SteelMentor posted:

$5 Some Jerk only left when he realised they weren't doing the 10th Anniversary special any more.

It seems like cancelling the Anniversary was at least partially a reason for a bunch of producers. Nash and Calluna both said that they had considered staying until the special was finished, the project being cancelled last minute was just an extra reason to leave now.

I get that expecting CA to be better about communication now was a bit of a stretch, but you'd think they would want to do something, ANYTHING, to try and keep their new people from leaving. Now it just shows that they don't really care for their new talent, and will probably keep them from being able to find any new people, if they even decide to try and find new content creators. At this point, I think they'll wait until they drop below 10 producers, and just shut down the site to focus entirely on the YouTube channel.
