I always wanted to write some kind of critique of the videos, but ever since GramerGrate I don't want to make a target out of myself again (already had one incident of stalking related to it.) I also kinda realized I can do more by just existing in this industry and not being a colossal shithead (about games.)

Yea I like WEE a lot because they go into the episodes genuinely trying to see what's good in it so it's not just "THIS IS NEW THEREFOR BAD". I hadn't actually paid any attention to the Hatred controversy, but holy poo poo, actually seeing the game, I think Valve were completely in the right to remove it from Steam, so to hear that they put the game back up and apologized to the developers gives me a sick feeling deep, deep in my gut. And hearing Joe struggling to defend that decision, but coming up with no reason to defend it ("parenting!" is not a good defense) makes me feel even worse.

DDoS and swatting are terrible horrible things, and I'm glad that the legal system is as pissed off about it as I am.

But the one thing I was waiting for was GamerGate. Angryjoe is neutral. He addresses the grievances and didn't muck up facts. The most important thing was he pointed out was he didn't approve of the harassment to women, GamerGate doing quite little in anything, and that a hashtag movement cannot achieve anything substantial and nuanced because of mob mentality.

I am happy to hear that GamerGate is shrinking and dying, and happy to know that GamerGate is going to be known as the contreversy that only managed to divide gaming, harass women and failed to even achieve "ethical journalism".

But seriously Joe, you cannot loving tell me that anti-GG is somehow as bad as these wastes of flesh.

I just don't like the Lawful/Chaos system. Oddly, I find it works better on the evil spectrum, because at least Devils being bound by their word to uphold contracts is interesting. The issue I have with Lawful Good characters is that they're bound to uphold a bad regime as long as the power was attained legitimately. They will take action to change it, but it will be purely internal action, which doesn't work well when your entire regime is corrupt. To me, the clearest example of Lawful/Chaotic Good is Yuri and Flynn from Tales of Vesperia. Flynn just doesn't get anything done until Yuri helps by basically being a murderer.

I'm sure a very heavy RP-focused adventure could make changing a system from the inside engaging, but it would be difficult.
