I'm a few months behind, so it may have jumped the shark in the meantime, but I've enjoyed reading the Chinese light novels Legend of the Sun Knight. It's a part-comedy part-serious fantasy story about the leader of the Church of the God of Light's twelve knights, the Sun Knight. The setting is (intentionally) derivative, but its a fun read.
