Just posting to say - lol, England. Can't defend 300. Wtf. Drop the lost of them and start again, this goes double for the bowlers; we need proper one day specialist that aren't Jade Durnback.

You've got a point. England need to go over to the West Indies and absolutely dominate them to try and get some confidence back. That test side won't do that.

Who do we take that will? JJ Roy? That left arm quick we used in practice down under? Finn?

Ballance/Bell/Root has been pretty decent in test cricket of late. The strange thing is bringing back Trott which will either break that up or they'll have him opening, because they won't have picked him to not play him. Cook/Trott opening partnership phwoar. As a bonus they can ruin Lyth at the same time.

I'm taking it as trott opens with lyth at 6 with Jordan and Treadwell as the other two bowlers

Is Ali out the side because they worked out he is brown or do they have a quota system and a bit has been filled by Jordan they won't take another ethnic?

Would it be better for India to lose in the semi or the final? I think the semi.

Nah, you want them to as close to victory as possible so that the fall is even greater.

You want them to bowl first and be set 400 to win. You want kohli to put 150 on in 100 balls. You want dhoni to be there at the last ball, 6 to win. You want him to give it the helicopter. You want it to be sailing to the boundary. You want the Dan to be there. You want him to catch it. You want to see the tears.

Bowling first was probably a pretty good plan to be honest. Cook, Trott, Ballance as the top three? Ain't more than a teaspoon of self-confidence between them.

That would be balance with an average of 60? He might have been poo poo in Odis but that's because he don't give a poo poo about odis

We've gone from having no batting but good bowling, now its the other way around.

I like Ali but I'm worried about having a spinning all rounder, if he has a bad day with the ball you're more than usually hosed.

Has KP been put back in the team yet?

I know we arw joking but where would he play?

I don't think he could work as an aggressive opener like the Warner or that Indian fella - sawag?. 3,4 and 5 are sorted. He could come in a 6 but would he be happy about that? Any lower would be just silly as he is not an alrounder.

A hundred and a fifty thank you very much. If you go back to the ashes in 2013 out of 35 innings he has past 50 in 13 of them. He is fine where he is just had a bad game.

Strauss has had a meeting with KP and told him he'll never be picked for England again. This is disappointing but now Strauss will last about 6 months in that role as Vaughan will have the knives out as soon as possible and none of the sky lot liked him.

I don't think they have the necessary to do something like Cook, Lyth, Ballance, Pieterson, Bell, Root, Buttler, SPINNER, Jordan, Broad, Anderson. They'd just not get the wickets based on recent form.

Also it lacks the contractually required all-rounder.

That is also unfair on Ali who is perfectly good with the bat. I agree we need a spinner and as much as I like Jordan he needs to be dropped for an express pace English Brett Lee

notaspy
Mar 22, 2009

Well done to the Aussies, gently caress the MCC.

We are going to utterly collapse when we come to bat, cook will struggle to get double figures, lyth will poo poo himself, gently caress knows what will happen with Balance and Bell is still a walking wicket. Granted Root will get a double but we'll be at least 100 runs behind at the end of the first innings.

So who, exactly, hosed up and ordered such a dead pitch? I actually feel a bit bad for the English players, coming off a game where they were praised and rewarded for playing positive, aggressive cricket, only to be forced back into defensive flat pitch bullshit next time around.

This match might have been entirely decided by the toss, and that sucks for the game.

Lord's has always been a road as its a private members club. He old differs that rule it like to see good stroke play and big scores, they are not really bothered about getting a result.

I think thats the problem. Bell and Lyth aren't good enough right now but theres no-one to replace them.

Drop Bell, bring in bairstow, rejig the order to put root at 3, balance at 4, stokes 5, bairstow 6

No idea what to do about the opener, do with go for another bloke who can sit there with cook and absorb 30 overs at 2.5 or do we get a basher in to take he pressure off cook?

notaspy

Cook
Hales
Root (c)
Stokes
Balance
Bairstow
Buttler (wk)
Ali
Wood
Broad
Anderson

I am getting worried about Anderson, I think he might be done too. His bowling has been ok but not great and his batting is laughable; his run out of Root and playing like a dick when Wood was on for a 50 are the best two examples.

Ripping 3 players out of the team would be madness when there is only 1 player who can realistically step into the team (bairstow). Everyone else is a gamble.

notaspy
Mar 22, 2009

I like Bell, and I would call this resting him, not dripping him but we have to be honest and say it'll 18months before he is back in the team. At that point he will be 35 and we'll have to use him at 5.

I agree that whomever we bring in as opener is going to be a gamble. Bairstow will be down the order, hopefully this gives him a bit of protection as by the time he comes out Root will be on a double ton.
