How could you not mention Ireland defeating Pakistan in 2006 followed by the coach turning up dead? Anyway, hooray for a new thread. Boo to the World Cup being in a time zone that makes it effectively impossible for anyone on US Eastern Time to watch a game. I will be happy to be the token supporter of India, but I am a filthy American who only support India because that's where I learned the rules of the game, and I'm also woefully uninformed. Why is the team so bad lately anyway?

It's 3:30 AM and I just got back from watching the first innings of India/Pakistan at a bar here in NYC. I have never experienced anything like it in 28 years of being a sports fan. Nonstop chanting in Hindi for hours, screaming with every boundary, India and Pakistan fans being civil to one another in the midst of all of it. I wish the time zones weren't so awful so I could see the conclusion. It was seriously incredible.

Forgot to post this last night: here is a picture of the bar at 9 PM - 90 minutes before the game started. They were already turning people away. Side note: Please bring the World Cup back to the West Indies so it's not in an insane time zone for us filthy Americans.
