Bailey has been quite bad lately. With Watson and Clarke likely back soonish I wonder if Watson will take finch's spot and Clarke will take baileys.

That last six Faulkner hit was crazy.

His striking of the ball is crazy clean. When he's set the bowler can only really bowl full and wide of off stump. Anything he can swing through the line at he hits for six.

It was close. Johnson does slide his foot quite a bit but I think there was probably a bit behind the line.

Johnson never has his foot behind the line at release so he is probably the most scrutinised bowler in the world for no balls on wickets.

Plus Morgan must have thought the ball was going to clear his stumps. He must have because he pulled out.

I feel like I'm being punished for saying that Bopara is the worst cricketer to regularly play international cricket. A few days late spoonboying.

Shmoses posted:A friend of mine plays in the F grade of the local comp. It's mostly very ordinary players, hungover old blokes and under 14s kids. This round they were bowled out for 176, and then the other side made 8/476 in reply. One bloke made a ton after they got the runs, and blokes were walking down the pitch to hit 13 year olds for six. Pretty pathetic stuff Doesn't the local association grade people. That's silly.

Shmoses posted:I assumed so but maybe not? It's just so douchey. Surely you either go for the outright or just call it off? No point demoralising kids in F grade Its really poor form and pointless. From my experiences batsmen get a lot more leeway but that's just silly. So it was a 2 day game ? Why didn't they just declare

Just on the leg bye talk. The batsman has to be either attempting a shot or avoiding being hit to take a leg bye. The batsman can't just boot the ball for four.

On the Anderson run out its a weird one. The umpire signals dead ball to over turn the decision. Instinctively I feel like the ball is dead but Anderson was also going for the run so in a lot of situations where the ball would be otherwise dead (bowled on a no ball for example) the umpire would treat the ball as alive if a player was genuinely going for a run. Like if Anderson was just wandering around after the lbw and the stumps had been thrown down I've no doubt that would have been called dead. In short its confusing.

Of course this is all guestimations because of the nature of it but that India/Pakistan match has been estimated as one of the most watched sporting broadcasts ever. Pretty good.

That's why you always bowl first against a side you are a lot better than in odi. Its all well and good to score 500 for the lols but its a tournament and the less time a side is playing the better. In a test bat first and score a million sure but odi just finish it as quickly as possible.

Is this the kiwis best side or will there be some changes to the line up when they play Australia. Still fancy the kiwis to beat us over there but I reckon if we draw them in a later round game in Australia we will win.

Lot to like about how new Zealand play it. Like the killer instinct. England are absolutely awful but they are just hammering them. Non of the buffoonish laziness like Australia served up after the game was won. New Zealand understand its a tournament where run rate might matter.

He is right about the associates. Bowling matters too much in test cricket and an odi plodder wouldn't get wickets in test cricket. That said Ireland has literally done all that it can do to press the case for full membership.

goatface posted:Dan's doing good work here. Problem with the modern odi is that it doesn't really reward good bowling as much as punish bad batting. I mean if Smith and Clarke are good enough to just see the bowling off and get their eye in they will be able to launch like 150 off 10 overs. What a silly game.
