augment reality has many uses. i was really disappointed when i found out that google glass is not ar. it won't become something you use everywhere like a mobile phone though. more a work or home entertainment thing i guess.

repair instruction projected onto the thing you are trying to repair are pretty good. it could also be useful for many collaborative things. disney has an ar enivronment to plan their disneyworld attractions for example. it could be useful for game design and stuff. Ben Grahams Ghost posted:No normal person is going to be using these things, it'll be nerd lords and maybe people with technical jobs that could benefit from schematic overlays or something. i don't think it will be an everyday usage item like a mobile phone. not in this form.

a bone to pick posted:crosspost from xbox thread: that's stupid and also likely the reason why google glass doesn't have ar. if you use it at home the computer can be placed somewhere else. looks like mobile usage won't be feasible then.

Crow_Rodeo posted:I'm wondering a couple of things. Like if you have a big minecraft living room, wouldn't you need to have something on the table or the wall so that the device knows where it should keep things? Like does it know what room of the house you're in so it always puts the minecraft house on the table in the same spot and same direction every time? Crow_Rodeo posted:Also, I know gesture control is getting much better but I'm having a hard time understanding how you just reach out and grab something without having some kind of glove or something? Or am I just way out my depth here?
