You've gotta remove the top four inches of soil, can't use compost unless you can guarantee it's lead-free, put a barrier of mulch all around tilled areas to prevent leaded soil from contaminating plants during rainstorms or windy days, wet the soil before working in the garden, keep the soil more alkaline than 6.5 pH, wash all produce in a 10% solution of vinegar, and peel/remove outer leaves from any vegetables. Also, wear a separate suit of clothing for working in the garden and wash it by itself, and remove your gardening shoes before entering the house. What do you do for a living?
