Hmm. With the introduction of this priest character whose apparently absent from the manga, the whole scene with the boar being put on trial and the priest's insistence that he can't do anything without an accuser, I wonder if they're setting up a plot arc with a heresy trial. They certainly seem keen on the Joan of Arc parallels.

Yeah that was pretty awkward. I've never studied theology but even I know a monk of Bernard's standing isn't going to be remotely blindsided by the problem of evil.

I suppose it's possible that he's deliberately trying to set up an argument for use in a show-trial, but the show isn't exactly portraying it that way.
