Hey quick question because I'm dumb about the SA forums, I made a big link-filled post at the end of the last thread and I was gonna repost it here, is there any way to see the unformatted post (with [url] and stuff intact) so I can repost it, because using edit/quote doesn't work on posts in a closed thread.

You can't, but I can

Mounts
Craft furniture and racial blocks/furniture
More decorative blocks (mostly from ores)
Ore-yielding farmable plants
Crew mod for populating ship and neat features
More bodyparts for random monster pools
Bandit masks and neckerchiefs for your fashion needs
Bees, in case you're loving stupid and liked Forestry for Minecraft
Healing potions as upgrades to bandages
Inter-chest auto-sorter for quick easy storage and ender-chest-like capabilities
New pets and monsters
Random systems that support all biomes/planet types

I'm looking up mods and this one lets you skip to after getting the core fragments in case you want to do that.

Also a few other things that should work for the new stable in case you want to do that too
Ore glows
Ore is labeled for easy recognition
Foods have better description of their effects
Mounts
Craft furniture and racial blocks/furniture
More decorative blocks (mostly from ores)
Ore-yielding farmable plants
Crew mod for populating ship and neat features
More bodyparts for random monster pools
Bandit masks and neckerchiefs for your fashion needs
Bees, in case you're loving stupid and liked Forestry for Minecraft

New pets and monsters
Random systems that support all biomes/planet types
lol what about a mod that makes the game worth playing haha it's a joke link
Sugarcane drops sugarcane items instead of processed white sugar.
Most of these were made for the unstable versions of the update so I can't guarantee they'll all be fully compatible, but these links will still take you to the right place once they do update (if necessary)

You guys don't like mounts I guess, huh

I played Starbound today. Somebody will become angry about that and tell me about it I'm sure.

I clicked on some stuff and mined some ores. Some other things happened and I killed a monster. That's my story.

Hope I'm not the only one getting his rear end stomped flat by the mining facility boss. Just hit death #10, and haven't managed to fire the mining laser a second time yet. I was really liking the mission until I got to the boss.
There is a possibility that I'm retarded, since I got stuck on the Gaping Dragon in Dark Souls for ~14 deaths.

I got a two handed cactus weapon that hurls cactus barbs when swung, and I think I got it from busting up a cactus on a desert world. All I know for sure is that I didn't have it when I landed and I cant remember opening any chests.

That took me several tries too, the fight requires some very precise platforming and if you don't have double jump yet it's way too hard. The beam damage could be lower.

Mods are a big one. Prettier buildings if you're in for the aesthetics. Different content if you're already burnt out on Terraria and waiting for 1.3. I mean if you could only get one I'd definitely recommend Terraria of course, but presumably that's not the case.

I have destroyed more of your kind than I can count.

I was one of the three Turtlicious hooked up with Starbound and I just played it for the first time. Spent two hours exploring an abandoned mining complex on the starter planet, spelunking down to the core, dinking around the outpost, and visiting robots and bird people on a desert planet.

Why didn't you guys tell me this was so fun? I feel like you've been holding out on me.

I've got both from SA gift exchanges but starbound keeps crashing while terraria works fine, I was wondering if it was worth trying to figure out what was up with starbound.

Every single boss is terrible. It's like someone thought the combat was actually compelling/good. It is terrible and annoying. Two hits to death in high tier armor is hilariously stupid.

edit: lmao the third boss will actually one shot you from full health with a rushing attack in full current armor. DARK SOULS COMBAT indeed.

Also the new modding changes mean from this point on mods have more control and flexibility plus (ideally) won't need to be updated. So they won't break with every version like Minecraft does.

The first boss in the mine place for the FTL is.. actually very easy once you get down his pattern. His second and third attack patterns have some extremely easy ways to avoid taking damage. I highly recommend bringing a shield along however, since until you understand how to avoid them, it can be helpful to block the beams to negate some of the damage.

Not really on the same scale. Terraria is a quite open sandbox game, this is a really bad linear fetch quest game where all the non-linear options are functionally useless.

delikpate that thing!
Thoughts on the vaunted new content: breakable ores are about as rare as
chests and only drop like 3-5 ores, and usually not even good ones. pointless. Disposable picks wear out so fast they're barely worth the inventory space. Mine boss does too much damage, and the third attack pattern is bullshit since the first two teach you to dodge the lasers but this one will pin you in and hit you anyway unless you luckily happened to be in the safe spot for which there is no clue

Then I crashed the first time the boss killed me so now I'm here

I'd be interested in a mod which allows you to illadvisedly travel to more dangerous planets. Or hell, a super multibiome planet which contains threats from tiers 1-5 and then another that contains threats from tiers 6-10. Bonus points if you get a chance to be invaded from the harder planet which can be ended by staging a raid on the space base near the landing point on the second planet. Regular planets would be threat tier 3-9 and then 10+ for endgame content. They'd also have enemies and weapons you couldn't find on your superplanet.

This'd give you a reason to stay on one planet and build bases, to explore more dangerous locations when you're not ready for it and provide a calmer place to regroup when you die. It'd be a bit more Terraria like, but you'd also have to have cheaper requirements for earlygame tools and perhaps have higher requirements for better gear? "Hylotl Katana" would cost 5 iron bars and "Hylotl Masterwork Katana folded 10000 times" would cost a good bit more, prompting you to explore other planets to pay for better weapons.

Oh and have planets that are entirely made out of a particular material for extra otherworldy effect. Can't hurt to have a Rust planet with loads of iron on it at tier 5 when iron becomes less important.

There's actually an attempt at a dark souls mechanic in now. If you block with a shield just before you get hit all damage is negated and the shield doesn't loose its Health or whatever it has. You can block with the big swords that don't shoot poo poo (I Think?) also. It's a bit easier since you don't have to time it right before taking damage.

Also, holy poo poo this game needs some kind of semi-dynamic economy thrown in because with the outpost it's even more obvious how static the procedural universe is.
