 I live in Florida near the beach so it's pretty common for people to walk around barefoot, and I tend to do for stretches of a few days if I'm at the beach a lot. The local stores and restaurants don't care, you can walk in with no shoes or shirt, women in bikinis in McDonald's blah blah you get the picture. That being said there are loving hazards, the worst being sand spurs which hurt like a motherfucker and are hard to get out, and of course glass is a big problem and I have seen people slice their feet open. Once when I was really stoned and/or drunk I decided to walk to the beach barefoot over steaming hot pavement in the middle of July and burned the gently caress out of my feet. I wear flip flops a lot more after that.
