King of False Promises posted:Rowdies won 1-0 (a PK) against the Union! And lost to Malmo FF 0-4 on Feb. 12th. In happier news, this past Valentine's Day, Feb. 14th, 2015, was the 40th anniversary of the Rowdies. They played their first match of association football on Valentine's Day, 1975. It was an indoor match though. But they won! It was a 7-2 indoor win over the Washington Diplomats on Valentine's Day, 1975 at the Bayfront Center (within shouting distance of their current home at Al Lang - the Bayfront Center is no longer with us, however). Speaking of the Diplomats, I just have to love a team whose jersey actually said DIPS right across the front. Maybe that word isn't used that way by the kids these days, though.

The most interesting thing happening in Indy Eleven land is that the snow hosed up their travel plans, so the team had to take an extra day getting back from Arizona. AZ > Las Vegas > ATL > Chicago > Bus to Indy. Or something like that. Also they are using Parks and Rec names for all the trialists.

Rowdies landed back in Tampa last night; good sized crowd from Ralph's Mob was there to great them, based on their Facebook photo. Apparently the Rowdies are starting a trend to have their opening home match also be a concert for "bands whose names sound like much more famous bands". Last year it was the Red Hot Chili Pipers; this year it is the Black Honkeys.

Marsh is showing his age; I doubt anyone in NYC in 2022 would notice anything amiss. :bigtran: Unfortunately Marsh has a bad track record with these kinds of wagers; I hope he is not jinxing the 2022 World Cup: http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/default.aspx?pageid=438&n=rodney-marshs-head-shaved-for-wrong-prediction-2000-08-28
