Valheim owns and it's the game I've been looking for to fill a particular gap that's existed for years.
I want to adventure but I don't want it to be stressful, and I want to build stuff but don't want to have to defend it from players because I also want to be able to quit playing at any time without having to worry about where I log out or whatever.

I can just pop in, kill a troll or farm a thing or sail somewhere or run around for a while and then stop playing whenever I want. It owns even in single player. It's such a pretty game with its weird mix of beautiful lighting and PS2 textures.

Also it's the best high game I have ever played.

Does anyone else remember Survival Crisis Z? It's from 2007 and it's the chillest zombie game I've played, but it doesn't work so well on modern systems.

I've been trying to remember the name of this for years, thank you!!!
I googled it again earlier today, even.
Is there anything similar out there?

Yakuza 0 rocks. I've played like 30 hours of it just doing side quests and beating people up. And racing cars against little kids.

True. Scouts are always top-tier. I haven't gotten super far into the game but it seems like they did a better job of balancing the classes compared to the first two. Especially in the second one, where you can deploy like 3 scouts and wreck every map.

Man, I kinda want a Switch lately.

That was my experience too. It just never really clicked. I played this MMO called Vindictus a long time ago and the combat was always compared to Monster Hunter, but when I finally played MH it felt super slow and clunky to me. And I never really know what the hell is going on, and there are way too many menus and stuff.

Though there is something about JRPGs like MH, I dunno if it's the menu styles, or like the fonts and sounds, the social areas, there's something specific to japanese games that's "comfy" in a way older games used to be that I don't really find anymore and I like it.

I friggin loved the Doom remake but Doom Eternal has so much stuff going on that even like 5 hours in I still don't feel like I have the hang of stuff. It feels overwhelming to me.

I hate how the HUD has so many meters you gotta keep track of, but they're not near the crosshair so I'm constantly losing focus on the action, and I hate that you have to press a button to change grenade types. It double sucks because the thing recharges so often it's like I'm constantly juggling the buttons.

There's just like TOO MUCH poo poo happening all the time.

I had to make a new character in Dark Souls after ruining my first dude's stats. I made a fire magic specialist and started running through bosses with the upgraded close range blast thingy.

That's the only reason I made it nearly to the end. Never beat it though. I ran out of motivation after grinding through a couple of other extremely difficult bosses and then kinda just stopped playing.

It was fun to have a low-level super upgraded fire wizard that cartwheels around with a whip, even though they made it a garbage weapon. Still got a few people, especially with the "I'm just a random destroyable object" spell.

If I was terrible at parrying and dodging in Dark Souls, will Bloodborne be even harder?

Like my main tactic is making GBS threads myself and rolling around until it's time to boop the bad guy. In DS1 anyway.

I love stuff like that in video games. Like the button to jump out of the car is right next to the buttons for gas and brake so it's easy to just jump out in a game when in real life it's a whole separate thing and way less likely to accidentally do.

Basically let's you mess with the perspective of the background layer to do wacky 3D-lite effects and such. I'm sure it's actually more complicated than that but that seems to be my understanding.

I wanna try cyberpunk but soooo many games have this threshold that I cross unknowingly and, beyond that, I'm just done. One minute it's fun and the next I don't ever wanna play it again, and it seems to happen regardless of whether I've finished the story or not. My video game attention span is like a half hour max nowadays.

Except for RDR2, where I've logged 130 hours. Lol

lol i had to get battlefront 2 after reading your post, i have good memories of playing the original during sleepovers at my cousins house. it was basically a lasery and more singleplayer-friendly version of battlefield 1942 back then so a lackluster story and wack multiplayer mode dont bother me too much when it comes to a $7 game.

also picked up rocksmith (should be amusing) and opted for horizon: zero dawn instead of cyberpunk this time

i need some good adventure/exploration games to fill the void left by rdr2, my favorite birdwatching in the old west while high as gently caress simulator

The division 2 is tons of fun. It's plays like a weird combination of battlefield and fallout 4, squeezed through the ubisoftinator. I love how varied the gun varieties are, and how you can swap between a bunch of loadouts depending on how you feel like playing and what the environment you're in is. I love the shotguns in particular. It's going to take me forever to get through though, since I have a patholical need to clear every sub mission in a map section before moving on to the next.

This game does seem to own based on the few hours I've played so far. I really like the inventory system and weapon modding as well. The double barreled shotgun rules cause it's pretty much game over if it connects, it's fun to run up and blast dudes.

It's also nice that I can login and play for like half an hour, then put it down and still feel like I did something.
