It's probably easily the most unique arena shooter to come out since the last Quake or UT or whatever so I'd recommend it if you can find people to play with.

 It's like the few good things about UT, mixed with a lot of the best things from Quake, with some quirks that haven't been seen in probably any other FPSes that change the style of game significantly, made with indie funds and experience.

the aesthetic of quake 3 is better, im saying in terms of purely what the engine could do in terms of lighting and particles and poo poo were improved to the point where it's unrecognizable as the Q3 engine and that's pretty cool

its kind of cool how much the quake 3 engine evolved as more devs used it. Alice and jedi academy looked really good when cranked up to max

Cod games are still quake 3 engine lol.

It's super obvious in the cod4 and earlier versions

It goes without saying that the lovely stuff about it doesn't make it worse than UT, since UT is mostly a pile of crap apart from a couple things.
