It can't save more than 32 GB so why would you get a card bigger than 32 GB??

This is truth. That's why a new format even needed to be introduced in the first place, to handle a larger data set. Format something larger than 32GB with SDHC and... well what did they need a new format for. If you want more space you need to format with SDXC and the 3DS doesn't support it.

Did you turn off auto-brightness? It's on the home menu where you change themes

I don't think it was, I only found it by fiddling around on the home screen. I definitely noticed the screen being darker than I remembered.

It's a new feature for the New 3DS XL.

Is it weird that the main reason I wanted a New 3DS XL was because I discovered the scaling on DS games isn't quite right on the regular 3DS, leading to some blurriness, and it scales correctly on the XL's larger resolution screens?

Uh no? It's still blurry. You still need to hold down Start or Select to run DS games in 1:1 native which is crisp but doesn't use the entire screens.

The XL has the same resolution screens as the regular, and the New doesn't change that. However, on both the XL and Bite-Size models, you can hold START (or SELECT) while DS games boot up to get them to render at native resolution, with black space around the image, and on the XL models, the reduced screen size is less egregious.

The XL doesn't have larger resolution screens. The regular 3DS, the XL, the New XL, and the 2DS all have the exact same resolution, so the same scaling filter is applied on all of them.

To have DS or Game Boy games display at their original resolution with no blurring effect, you hold select or start while booting them, which works on any 3DS model.

EDIT: oh well I got beaten multiple times over

There is, but the way the 3DS works, you both need to add each other to be added, so it's better to just add people naturally.

My disdain for you all knows no bounds.
Yeah, the size of the display on the reduced screens is the same as the Nintendo DS' screens, so the reduction in screen size on the XL is a lot less jarring.

Playing in the DS' native resolution on the 3DS results in a super tiny screen.

I've been hoarding all of my 3ds games waiting until the new one came out. Now that it has I have way too many games and no ideas where to start. I'm looking at either link between worlds, fantasy life, mh4u, or Majora's mask. It's a good problem to have.

I'm not going to get a NuDS until there are more games that require the new processor, and even then it'll be a hard sell unless it's on discount. Xenoblade doesn't count, I already have it for the Wii U.

Link Between Worlds is the best Zelda game since LTTP.

Soooooo.

e: I'm playing MM using the zeldadungeon.net walkthrough and am having fun when I never even got to the first temple on the N64. I think I'll end up liking this more than OOT (which I've never finished, though a 3DS copy is in the mail).

I have this theory that OoT is simply not a good game and is only so well-liked across boards because it's the first 3D Zelda. Majora's Mask is emo as hell and trippy and weird, so even if the gameplay was bad, people would say the tone carries it.

I bought a New 3ds, the last one within 40 miles of me with about 10 seconds to spare. The people right behind me came up asking for one. Suckers. Anyway, I've never owned any 3ds and I'm loving it so far. Should I just be going balls out with this 3d slider or gradually increasing it? Or just adjust it on a game by game basis? I've only played 3d land, which looks amazing with it, and Ocarina which didn't seem so hot. Don't know if it's just my eyes needing time to adjust or if some games just struggle with it.

The 3D slider is/should be a one-time setting thing. Like, it doesn't make things more 3D, it's there so you can adjust it to see things in 3D in a way that looks better for you. I can't explain it perfectly, but when I wear glasses, all the way up is better, but without them, I have it at about the mid-level.

I don't know if 'spend more money' helps as an answer but I bought this one and it works great. It was actually even cheaper when I bought it and goes on sale regularly. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M55C0NS/

OOT did for 3rd person action games what Mario 64 did for 3rd person platformers, but LTTP is just better in every way, and it holds up better in retrospect since it isn't a blurry N64 game.

Also OOT felt like a retread with the 3 dungeon, Master Sword, dark world routine. I still remember being let down at just how empty OOT felt compared to a screenshot of a sprawling city pre-release. Just wasn't what I was hoping it'd be.

Doesn't help that LTTP is probably in my top 5 of ever,. That game owns.

Nintendo recommends the next step up from that card (the Extreme line) so that's what I bought.

My drat Majora's Mask 3DS won't be here until Monday though so I'm drowning my sorrows in sweet, sweet Kirby Triple Deluxe until it gets here.
