Shenanigans!
Slept with Rita and Mushroom jack in the same day. Worth the $40 I spent as a founder.

Still not invited to the leather parties. :eng99:

Tried the demo, fell in love with the game, yikes'd the 25€ over. Currently punching stuff and collecting mushrooms. Must not forget to deliver a message about a potential ploughing.

its pretty good and fun but i'm a bit mystified why they did a $40 buy in instead of a f2p+cosmetics thing to draw in whales for funding.

in all honesty this game looks like some dudes passion project who'd probably go on a 4 hour long rant about mtx ruining games if you've seen his new update videos

At the time the general opinion in f2p was still cosmetics are a ripp off joke item and f2p was pay2win only.

They were pretty big on this will be free but not pay to win. They are also a small team and really would have issues pimping them out at a rate that would actually make money.

Like it started using only assets from the Unity Store, it still might.

Yeah I remember his story about how all of the elves are highly sexualized because that was literally the only assets he could find.

From what I can tell on the forums, he's thinking about adding a VIP sub, but I'm not sure that means returning to f2p.

And it's not like the unity store can really keep a cosmetics things going. Not sure if he can afford an artist, although he seems to have afforded a third party to implement mounts, which couldn't do the work until after they updated the unity engine, which took him like over a year to do.

Keebler-Elfs are actually gnomes. Keebler-Elf is their surname. Just a bunch of trumped up garden gnomes.

Or possibly brownies.

The NPCs in this game are hornier than Skyrim modders. And somehow it's kinda endearing? "I'm gonna "farm" you, if you know what I mean.."

I love janky yet lovable games and there's a special place for this game and I play for a few weeks every year or two. It's so bizarrely good in a Starship Troopers way. Attending a poetry event is just a magical thing.

They're both extremely janky looking throwback MMORPGs, but Gorgon is a labor of love from a small team with great gameplay and no microtransactions. Shroud is something duct taped together to provide justification for the massive amount of kickstarter fundraising and real money purchases.

Yes, that's wonderful, the market is tiny and niche as gently caress, I sure as gently caress don't want to play janky old-school MMOs, most people don't, we don't have the time or frankly the stamina to spend ages grinding though old content.

Cool, YOU dont. But that's no reason to compare this to something that might as well be a scam. This is a PvE mmo. Making yourself seem like a twit, lol.

There's really no comparing a buy to play MMO with so many unique features to a unity asset flip with literal ten thousand dollar castles that have been rendered worthless by the game's ongoing failure

I guess under 5 years is theoretically possible, as long as that one dude doesn't start coding mediocre casino games again. Also orcs are supposedly in line before dwarves...

Hey guys

Hows the PvP in Project Gorgan?

Good? Bad?

Another 12 years before it gets put in?

Is this still a one man project?

PvP is somewhere between really bad and nonexistent. I think I've read somewhere in the past that PvE is primary focus for PG. It really is not a PvP game. It comes down to preference of course what you like but I prefer it this way since there's no need to balance the game that much, just go hog wild with skills and such.

It's more than one person but not many, can't remember numbers. Development speed is beyond glacial in any case. Our solar system will break down and Earth will have drifted halfway to Alpha Centauri before this game is done.

I think there's 2 or 3 actual devs, and some people hovering around them. PvP doesn't exist and MMO PvP sucks anyway bar some huge exceptions so I'm not really beat up over it.

It takes quite a while to even approach the endgame, but new content is added very slowly. The speed isn't really the problem here though, it's that content is added in a very unfocused way, basically just what the 2 or 3 devs feel like working on.
