Aside from the lack of pvp and guilds, this is a fairly similar experience to Age of Wushu - there seems to be a great deal of bizarre open-ended content, hidden away behind faction and skill grinds.

Crafting tradeskills appear to be the typical grindy moneysinks so I would recommend gathering instead. Avoid animal transformations until you become familiar with the game; they sound interesting but make everything more difficult by locking you out of vendors.

Got a reply from a bug report - I heard the "Hold Your Breath" and "Fear of Water" power words were outdated content, but according to the dev the underwater breath meter just hasn't been added yet. So hang onto the former, I guess.

All tradeskill seem like an incredible terrifying grind. Trying to get Leatherworking to an appreciable level has straight up taken two days of killing cows and begging a max level skinning knife off a maxed out player, will require a fair amount of time, about 80k councils, tannins notwithstanding, and a high level of favor. All in order to gain modest skinning and tanning skill. Then the real leatherworking begins, which requires high surveying and geology to make anything worthwhile. But all that said it's a good goal to strive for, because most people aren't masochistic dedicated enough to max it. Or at least that's what I tell myself.

Basically with regard to gear crafting, is there any way we could make a concerted effort to catalogue the different equipment skill modifiers so that we can determine good gear and the available modifiers in any given slot? If nothing else it'd be good to have a reference point.
Reconsidering Tailoring in light of those numbers - all I wanted to do was dye clothes nicer colors. :(

Seems like our only option is to funnel mats towards a few crafters. What do you need for your Leatherworking?

None at all. There's a friends list, and you can search online players with "/who all" but that's limited to 40 results. Some goons have listed themselves on a google doc, and near the bottom of the persona panel you can add a message that appears next to your name in search.

Though after hitting 50 tailoring I've found that outside of putting pockets on stuff, tailoring is almost totally useless by comparison of other craftables; which is really, really disappointing for how much time and money I invested to get there.

Another example of a curse.. LatinaPrincess decided to try and take on one of the final bosses of the game (currently) solo. Now, if you group with him, he will randomly say poo poo like "C'mon Glug, you're looting everything and I'm not getting poo poo!" or "I know you're kind of young but could you at least TRY a little bit?" Not kidding.
