Wouldn't a good addition to the formula simply be a "Surprise! All the teams in the back half of the race have to go back and complete BOTH detour legs." instead of trying to force a u-turn leg where no one would bother?

I could give a toss about the gimmick. But man, these two legs have been terribly designed. Think I'll just wait for Amazing Race Canada to return.
