After Will Wright left Maxis, it wasn't the same. I believe he left mostly because of what EA did to Spore, changing it from what it should have been to what it was. EA then took the name of Maxis to throw on SimCity 5 as well as The Sims 4. It was still The Sims Studio working on The Sims 4, just with a new name of 'Maxis'. EA at least looked to relocate the people effected by the closing of the one studio to find other work within EA. It's much better than handing them a pink slip and saying "we're closing the studio".

steinrokkan posted:Also I hope you aren't trying to lump TS4 together with the SimCity... thing. The only things in common with TS4 with SimCity 5 is they both have Sims, they take place in a fictional place, and both were "developed" by Maxis. That's about it.

Optimization is far bigger in Sims 1 than it was in Sims 2. Since motives didn't drop like rocks in Sims 2, and your Sims actually had days off where they could work on their skills or socialize, you could actually have Sims who had a life besides going home, getting motives up, getting skills up, and then going to bed and waking up to go to work. The only saving grace is later on with Hot Date that a Sim could leave a lot at 8pm, spend 5 hours out getting some motives up and making friends, and return home back at 8pm dead tired and ready to go to bed.
