That may sound really lovely and it is somewhat but I have a lot more to lose than some employee in this deal. I'm either on the dole myself, or I go back to work in some consultancy role that specialises in moving jobs offshore instead of building a business here.

By no means should business be setting policy on workers because employers can be exploitive fuckers. However, until you've lived this kind of poo poo for several years a lot of people are just slinging their ill-informed poo poo.

Do it yourself and you win. Every employer does it and everyone is too scared to spend becasue they don't know if the next pay check is comming and the economy dries up and everyone looses. So the solution is to not allow anyone to do it.

I've never brought it up because I only recently found out and I thought the guy was just a stingy prick. I also don't have a fallback position of 'X are offering me Y so I want Z to stay' because there are no jobs here in this industry, so I have been hesitant to bring it up for fear of being given the boot, as work has been kinda light lately with 3rd part contracts shifting hands etc.

Join a union.

On the latest in the Thompson affair. What are they suing for? If it is to recover the funds he was convicted of stealing, why not do that as part of the sentencing phase of the trial? Also what does fair work have to do with it, did he steal from them? If he was convicted of stealing in the magistrates court, then shouldn't the same venue deal with civil claims about the same matters at least?

It makes no sense.
