I finished this show earlier in the week. It's a good show guys. Super pretty, and emotional while still feeling well grounded.

Three things: 1. I'm so glad mini-Sapphire had a cameo. 2. I totally don't remember that flashback of Shuichi asking Kumiko out to the festival actually happening. Which episode was it last season? 3. Outro visuals kind of remind me of K-on for some reason.

Actually one of the funnier things reading people's reactions to season one was coming across the occasional "Kumiko makes funny noises!" in between all the stuff about the character drama and romantic subtext.

Well, we've finally found a character more difficult to put up with than Asuka. Her mother. Really good character animation this week. You can really tell how Asuka's having a hard time putting up her usual attitude. Also I'm worried about Kumiko's sister.

Sitting in earshot like a lemon while your sibling and parents get into an argument... yeah I've been there. Other thoughts: Tiny Kumiko! She's almost too precious. Not sure what to make of the Aoi scene. Either some lingering resentments, or Aoi is trying to validate her decision to quit the band. At least Shuuichi is being constructive.

I guess the scene with way younger Reina was supposed to establish why she felt how she did, but to me it just made the whole idea seem even more wrong, at least from Taki's perspective.

The finale will be a concert scene. If there's one thing that KyoAni is really good at, it's concert scenes. So that part will be fine.

I'm a total ignoramus when it comes to this stuff but they were making some really blatant composition choices in the Shuichi scene, and not ones that seemed to imply they were getting closer together. The real disappointment here is the bronze medal, but I guess it's a fairly realistic result on that tough a stage.

Kumiko's VA turned in the best performance I've seen all year. KyoAni's animators turned in the best performance I've seen all year. Final scene made me feel things. Good show.
