Red Crown posted:Including the door to OCS, apparently. I was shocked how many people didn't have real degrees. The Army will take people with mail-in nursing degrees that are only recognized by like three states' boards of nursing. The Navy used to too but shut it down a few years ago, but there are still nurse by mail officers grandfathered in.

My favorite thing about bases like Lemoore is the like-clockwork response people have that it's not too terrible because it's less than 3 hours to *a fun place.* If the best thing you can say about a place is that you can leave that place and go somewhere else, congratulations, you are in a shithole.

Bringing a khaki into the mix tends to solve easily defined, immediate problems (like "this IT is being a little bitch"), but 'make everything better?' Nooooooope

Getting those bullshit paper mill degrees is actually worse than doing nothing because it prevents you from getting Pell grants and a variety of other financial aid things, plus you look like a moron having it on your resume to anybody who knows the difference (anyone Not in the military).

Also note that answering questions like that by pointing someone toward a 200 page document full of jargon to the point of being borderline gibberish is a time honored Navy tradition, if you're going for realism in your book.

I asked in the drunk thread but it didn't seem people had it - does anybody have the shim post about the kid breaking up with his girlfriend in DEP and then becoming the MCPON?
