What goes on at Bragg that makes guys from the 82nd just love gay army poo poo? It's ironic that as good as the leadership/command climate is in my unit, we're probably never going to deploy. Or if we do it will be long after the leadership switches out. Of my fellow armor/cav buddies from my OCS company, I'm the only one not going to Afghanistan.

But yeah people that PCS into a unit from Bragg are always the worst. WELL IN THE 82ND WE DID IT THIS WAY poo poo. It's worse than the dudes that were prior service USMC.

They ditched it as the everyday hat back to the patrol cap in 2011 or 12 maybe? It's still a thing though for ceremonies and dress uniform stuff though, last I knew.

I haven't worn a beret since I commissioned, the few times I've had to wear a fancy hat I just wear a stetson. My beret doesn't fit anymore anyway, it fits a bald basic trainees head, not someone with hair.

oxygenpoisoning I just found the CUSTOM LIMITED EDITION PRINT of the 83d CM BN in WWII that we had to buy or we were LITERAL HUMAN GARBAGE THAT DOESNT SUPPORT THE UNIT AND THERE ARE CONSEQUENCES that was a big thing one year. Were you there for that? it was still wrapped up in a tube with all the xmas paper, I had forgotten the saga.

HCT I'm literally crying from flashbacks now, thanks. Now I'm going to have to go volunteer at a woman's shelter to work of the shame of being apart of that place. As far as beret talk. I'm in an airborne unit and pretty much only wear my PC unless I'm in a formation. I've had 82d NCOs stop me to ask why I'm not wearing my beret. I usually just shrug l, put my hands in my pockets, and walk away. I can feel their impotent rage.

I raise the 82d has a rep, but all the gay I experienced there was pretty much per for course Army gay. I got stuck with a bunch of good dudes under mostly great leadership. E: I did spend like 2/3 my time there deployed.

What time period and area was this? I wonder if it was a buddy's unit, because he told a very similar story from the 82d side. Also, I used to piss off Cav officers by saluting with "General Custer, sir!" instead of that gay rear end "Gary Owen"
