Essobie posted:Or, you could use the paddle shifters no matter what car you are driving and never look back. I mean, the G27s nice and all, but the H shifter still doesn't feel good enough to make me think "Wow, I'm really in an 80s sports car!" Pretty much what I do for everything but ETS2, and ev3n for that I use Automatic with 3rd for Drive and 4th for Reverse.

I've never had issues with how loud the G27 is. Then again, it IS a fuckload quieter than the DFGT. The difference helical gears make.

I need to work on a PVC setup like that, only with a swappable pedal section and parts to attach my HOTAS to for when I do flight sims/Elite: Dangerous

CaseFace McGee posted:I didn't hard mount my pedals until very recently - only when I increased the angle of that board. They stayed put just fine before that, with just the grippy things in the pedal base itself. Google "Simul8r 2" - that's what both of ours are based on. I made a larger table section for my triples and speakers, you should be able to adjust the plans for what you need. Nah, I like the feeling of building poo poo myself, hell, I ordered the parts on Friday to make this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOfJfpZ5E5I I don't even have something to mount it to (though I might just bluetack it to a piece of PVC that is in trn blutacked to my G27) I also want to figure out a way to get it to work with ETS2 (on top of everything it already works with)

MacGyvers_Mullet posted:Since the F1 2013/14 games aren't great sims based on the last page's discussion, what is my best option for sim open-wheel racing? I'm not necessarily interested in playing the current F1 season with 2015's cars, but I'd like to play something that sims that level of racing reasonably well. Like gutbomb said, rFactor 2. Original rF has a pretty baller mod that has all the cars and tracks from the 1979 F1 season.

EDIT: And I just realized that the only Codemasters racing game from the last 10 years made for PC that I am missing is F1 2013. EDIT2: oh sorry, missing F1 Race Stars and Toybox Turbos as well. After a night's rest I not only completed the second stage of the current goonrally but I also did so without having to use the vehicle recovery (first time I've done that in the game so far )

SealHammer posted:It doesn't fix the really bad queuing of calls and the variability between way too early and way too late. If there was a way to make an interface where you could write your own pace notes and have them read at the points you determine, it would make the whole experience a lot smoother and more pleasant. That may be a bit involved for Codemasters, though. you're talking about a company that couldn't be arsed to make it so you could have a preferred car number in F1 2014 when every GRID had that poo poo. Though maybe that was due to licensing issues idk.

Speaking of the DFGT, the one I bought off of Ohsh is about to be sold to a friend of mine. Its third owner in as many years. My only complaint about the DFGT is how loud the FFB is. EDIT: though tbh I didn't realize how loud it was until I got a G27 Kilonum fucked around with this message at 22:49 on May 13, 2015 |

bUm posted:Cool to see they've finally hit a release-worthy milestone. Never was interested at the possibility of paying for it, but hopefully them hitting a release means we're getting closer to other games looking into the possibility of utilizing aspects of their physics model since it seems like it has pretty cool potential for any game where destructive physics can play a role. iirc they want to perfect the soft-body stuff before working on the tires.
