Pretty much what I do for everything but ETS2, and ev3n for that I use Automatic with 3rd for Drive and 4th for Reverse.

Then again, it IS a fuckload quieter than the DFGT. The difference helical gears make.

I didn't hard mount my pedals until very recently - only when I increased the angle of that board. They stayed put just fine before that, with just the grippy things in the pedal base itself. Google "Simul8r 2" - that's what both of ours are based on. I made a larger table section for my triples and speakers, you should be able to adjust the plans for what you need.

Or just be a lazy bum and buy an Obutto setup.

Nah, I like the feeling of building poo poo myself, hell, I ordered the parts on Friday to make this

I don't even have something to mount it to (though I might just bluetack it to a piece of PVC that is in trn blutacked to my G27)

I also want to figure out a way to get it to work with ETS2 (on top of everything it already works with)

Since the F1 2013/14 games aren't great sims based on the last page's discussion, what is my best option for sim open-wheel racing? I'm not necessarily interested in playing the current F1 season with 2015's cars, but I'd like to play something that sims that level of racing reasonably well.

I'm doing iRacing in Skip Barbers right now with a D-rank road safety rating and have a ways to go before I get to cars that approach current F1 in terms of speed.

Like gutbomb said, rFactor 2. Original rF has a pretty baller mod that has all the cars and tracks from the 1979 F1 season.

It doesn't fix the really bad queuing of calls and the variability between way too early and way too late. That may be a bit involved for Codemasters, though.

Cool to see they've finally hit a release-worthy milestone. Never was interested at the possibility of paying for it, but hopefully them hitting a release means we're getting closer to other games looking into the possibility of utilizing aspects of their physics model since it seems like it has pretty cool potential for any game where destructive physics can play a role.

I don't think BeamNG is trying to make anything that isn't always going to be basically a tech demo. They're probably just releasing it for QA purposes, money on the side, and press/attention so other companies take notice (apparently, googling a bit, the movie industry has been interested so they can prototype stunts better beforehand without destroying actual cars) and are interested in paying much larger sums to use their physics engine.

Seems kind of weak to push a super detailed physics model that has really poor physics with respect to the friction on wheels.

iirc they want to perfect the soft-body stuff before working on the tires.
