I think it was a good run. When the draft starts perhaps it should end. Not that it matter but I think everyone is pretty much out of ideas except a few who are in the know.

Eh. I'll just say it since I don't think we'll get to round 6 before the real draft starts.

I think the ideal draft for the Browns in retrospect in what may be possible is...

1. Danny Shelton NT
1. Odiggy DE
2. Philip Dorsett
3. Donovan Smith OT
4. Davis Tull OLB
4. Rory Anderson TE
5. Taiwan Jones ILB
6. Chris Bonner QB
6. Terrell Watson RB
7. Joe Cardona LS

This would go a long way to stop the run and improve our Defense (healthy Barkeveous and if Gilbert can live up to what he could be) as well as Offense with value picks at later rounds. Guys from small schools but with a lot of upside in Tull, Bonner and Watson. Bonner who is a 6'6" QB with a decent arm and whatnot. Watson who is like a 6'2" 240lbs RB clocked at 4.51.

If Vic Beasley drops then it's game time decision.

EDIT: Yes. Give me a Long Snapper at 7.

quote:

STRENGTHS Taught by father to long snap when he was younger to give him best chance to make the football team. Extremely accurate and consistent as snapper for punts over last four years and field goals over last three. Snaps have been clocked at 41 mph, which is considered outstanding. Snaps with power and doesn't show a prominent hitch in his delivery.

WEAKNESSES Not as much of a factor in coverage as teams would like. Must improve breaking down in space and challenging the punt returner consistently. Facing a five-year Naval commitment that could delay his opportunity in the NFL unless given special dispensation.

DRAFT PROJECTION Round 7 or priority free agent

SOURCES TELL US "He will play in our league until he wants to quit. Guys like this have way more value to teams than people realize." -- NFC special teams coach

NFL COMPARISON Don Muhlbach

BOTTOM LINE While smaller than many NFL long snappers and a very average athlete to go with it, Cardona has been able to add muscle to his frame over the last 16 months and his elite accuracy over four years at Navy has NFL teams interested. Cardona snaps with above-average power and proficiency and has a legitimate shot to become the fourth long snapper drafted in NFL history.

Since I doubt this thing makes it to my 6th round pick before the draft, I'm going to summarize the Cowboys draft so far.

Team needs going into the draft:

CB, RB, DT, FS, LB, OT, QB

1.27: Melvin Gordon, RB, Wisconsin
2.60: Michael Bennett, DT, Ohio State
3.91: Alex Carter, CB, Stanford
4.127: Derron Smith, FS, Fresno State
5.164: Mike Hull, OLB/ILB, Penn State

Dallas' biggest needs going into the draft are at several positions on defense, as well as at RB with the loss of Murray. I would've been content to draft a RB later due to the depth this year, but Gordon was easily BPA at that pick in the 1st. Bennett should help with the anemic pass rush along with the Hardy signing (sigh), and the defensive backfield should be improved as well with both Carter and Smith (the latter probably being a late-3rd/early-4th round pick in the actual draft). Smith can also contribute on punt returns which is needed after the departure of Dwayne Harris. Finally, the team needs depth at LB after losing Durant and Carter, and Hull was probably a steal in the 5th who has the additional bonus of potentially backing up/playing both Mike and Will. They still need another OT either through draft or FA after losing Parnell, and they should continue churning the roster at backup QB because Brandon fuckin' Weeden.

Oh, and it might be a good idea to add DE to the list of needs considering the uncertainty of the Hardy situation, who the hell knows there. If he gets his poo poo straight, Hardy and Demarcus Lawrence would otherwise be a good duo at DE.

How many Championships?
I'll jump on the bandwagon. I drafted for the Bucs.

Team needs going into the draft:

QB,OT,DE,OG,WR,ILB,S

1) Jameis Winston, QB, FSU
2) TJ Clemmings, OT, Pitt
3) Trey Flowers, DE, Arkansas
4) Stefan Diggs, WR, Maryland
5) Nick O'Leary, TE, FSU

QB and OL were probably the biggest need going in. No need to get into Winston, that's been beaten to death. Clemmings is a guy who I think is a bit raw but could probably start over at RT while Dotson stays at LT. RG is a need that I didn't fill but the Bucs invested in a couple guys in the draft last year that could get a shot. Trey Flowers could hopefully fill a big need rushing the passer. He seemed to have some success in the SEC and would only really need to contribute as a rusher early on. Stefan Diggs would be an upgrade over Robert Herron in the slot and could possibly develop into a return man. Nick O'Leary would be a nice option for Winston since they've played so much together. He won't wow anyone in the NFL but could be a reliable guy to have around, especially since ASJ was banged up last season. I'm all about helping the rookie QB as much as possible in this draft and I feel I accomplished that.
