Lux Pain always sounded really interesting to me, shame about the garbage translation. I remember people posting some snippets of the bad and there's just no way i'd be able to deal with playing the game in that state.

I've only got 2 good endings and 2 bad endings, but so far Never7 is a far better game than Remember11 because at least it has endings and a coherent plot

Meanwhile, Uchikoshi is tweeting mysterious letters that may or may not be hex. And 4infinity.co updated. So maybe it won't take 300 days to reveal what it is after all. e: apparently they are ciphers that translate to "We are all men of our word" and "THE LONGEST NIGHT WILL HAVE AN END." Wait, you loved Umineko until the final chapter? It kinda goes downhill after 4 and never recovers. Six is especially terrible in that it's both boring as gently caress and loves beating you over the head with messages you got long, long ago. You sit and listen to Ryu call you an idiot for hours (with his literal self insert character), for not "thinking" about the mystery enough when sorry but I was well aware of all aspects of the mystery at this point...because I was, in fact, thinking. Ryukishi's best friend, proofreader, and the guy he started his writing career(?) for died after the 4th chapter. Ryu stated he "forgot the joy of writing", "considered quitting", but "[he] wouldn't have wanted me to do that". I'm pretty sure that his friend's death resulted in his writing and attitude becoming so pessimistic and sullen for the entire back half of the series and it's not a good thing because I thought 1-4 were loving awesome. That all sounds pretty negative itself but I still think Umineko is worth reading. Yet it could've been so much more.

Ah. I was well aware the translation for the first 4 Higurashi episodes was godawful and they also mutilated the music and sound effects (for no discernible reason? Isn't the loving music for the early episodes all public domain?) but I didn't know they handled the answer arcs better. That's good at least.

What music did they decide on for the new releases, by the way? I know for the original release there were patches for the original music, the ds music, the ps2 version's music....there's so much music for Higurashi. v: Gotcha, thanks for the info! I do find it interesting Higurashi got like 30 extra arcs and has been released on every console ever but Umineko I think has only been ported to the ps3 and gotten no real supplemental material to my knowledge.
