DrKennethNoisewater posted:Sim City was a mainstay when I was in elementary school, because I was born a sixty year old man. One of the main things that I remember about it is that railroads function almost identically to roads (there are no train stations), and it doesn't seem like there is a property value penalty for building anything right next to a rail line. Very early in my SimCity career, one of my friends told me to build exclusively railroad tracks instead of roads, because if you use roads people will eventually bitch about traffic. There might be a higher monthly fee per tile or something for rail, but it does seem like one of those stupid things that makes perfect sense in kid-brain and actually works out fine because video games. don't build roads in industrial areas because they just add pollution and all the transportation I-Zones need is provided by trains. -Teenage me.

DARKSEID DICK PICS posted:Speaking of Duckfeed-related tangents: that whole bit on Abject Suffering about the Offspring for a minute really makes me sad that Teenage Dirtbags is only 90s-focused. Any Offspring song/video from the past decade is basically ripe for mockery as the aging former-punks slowly try to become either Weezer or an issue of Heavy Metal from song to song. That reminds me that I was going to post this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsowJ_kjP8I

The future WOFF has given me the inspiration to finally go back and play past the second mission of LA NOIR. Mainly because it is a point and click adventure game so I can get a walkthrough and not have to sit and stare at a face to see if I can discern the subtle tightening of the lips or the microscopic darting of an eye which is what turned me off the game originally.

The theme that pisses me off is the closing theme for Abject Suffering. It seems like it's intended to be bad, but it is so catchy and I love it. That always give me a moment of worry that aesthetics aren't actually a thing and we all just respond to familiarity. Yes, a Mario Paint song gives me existential terrors.

Listening to latest Abject Suffering and the following comments occur: 1) My kids watched Stompy Something or other Minecraft Show and it is very informed by old school kids television. Lots of repeated actions and encouragement for viewers to interact (love garden this case) 2) the Barney vs Barkley skit was a takeoff on a basketball player vs Godzilla commercial that Nike(?) ran in the 90s. Maybe Jordan?

So the WOFF on Warcraft 3 was really good but I don't think they mentioned that the game grew out of a cancelled point and click adventure. I'm serious https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gslAG2OEO1c What I'm saying is that Thrall is a boring character that has been kicking around Blizzard for a loooong time. second, the WC3 trailer may be the first movie I ever downloaded from the internet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOdTeT1xUQQ
